Amouage - Interlude 53 So yes apparently I'm going through the "Exceptional Extraits" at the moment. I'm still honestly not sure at all how I feel about them. The last one I spoke about Reflection 45 I have to say is very good. So Interlude M is probably their most famous and already has a "flanker" 🙄 what was this one like. It opens with the familiar smoke, incense and opoponax from the original joined by the harsh burning oregano with a touch of bergamot. At this stage it's the dance between the bitter oregano (oreg-garnoh) and the sweeter beautiful opoponax with a slight green leather and patchouli sitting under with the incense. As it develops thankfully the greener herbs move a little back and the greener leather pushes up. There's also a lovely gingeriness from the opoponax with the smoke and incense. So yes like the original the contrast of the smooth and sweet with the harsh and bitter. It is so very similar after a couple of hours with the original. Maybe the incense is stronger with the smooth resins and bitter greens. It lasts basically forever and that weedy leather and incense stays for many many hours. It's really hard to get out my words with this. The original is a masterpiece without any doubts, although it's just not for me. This is exactly what you'd imagine, very very similar just because it's an extrait it feels smoother, maybe a little more luxurious. It's worth the money if you're a fan or someone with money to throw at it. If you've got the original, personally I think this isn't needed. We'll just ignore the other in my humble opinion pointless flanker. I know they've dabbled with extraits before, I can't comment how they compared with their originals, I never tried them. This one, I guess objective positivity the original is such a legend a super posh version is justified. So yeah, basically it's got all the same aspects as the original, the oil content is much higher, and there a few nuanced differences. I cannot say anything negative about it because of the pure genius of the original. Have you sniffed this version? What do you think of the extraits? What's your best smokey scent.
