A delightful fruity opening, very fresh and moist, with a forest echo in the background - it transitions smoothly into wild green. Slightly crazy and provocative, a little drunk with happiness, a little high in the clouds, but also intensely saturated with darkness and unnatural flowers. Like in an enchanted forest 😉 I smell a lot of hemp, but no mushrooms. Or maybe there are mushrooms here that I don't know? It can be like that.... Or to put it another way - instead of mushrooms, I can smell the aroma of rotting mulch from a distance. Very discreetly, very gently. The base is a bit mossy and vetivery in a way that I really like - it's sunburned, dry, woody vetiver. Two are also from the Dark collection, and one from the Pure collection!🤗 • Dirty Berry: the opening has a green and ephemeral orange blossom note... That quickly opens way to a blend of raspberry and strawberry, deeply fused into a patchouli background. A musky leather accord stands beneath the aforementioned notes. Overall it feels very much like the name suggests... A berry concoction, steeped in naughty leather and patchouli! Sometimes it almost has a varnished fruits vibe. Inviting, but provocative! • Vaniglia Esotica: opens with a peculiar blend of grape, coconut and citrus. Then ginger and cinnamon veer the scent into a honeyed toba¢¢o note. In the base, vanilla and resins give the fragrance an ambery base. There's also ambergris and an ubiquitous ylang-ylang note, which give the scent a tropical twist. Overall, it's quite a weird composition, that throws waves of notes and feelings towards your unsuspecting nose! It's fruity, spicy, tropical, warm, ambery and cozy... All at the same time! Wonderfully risky and captivating!💛 • Fico Selvatico: opens with a sweetened ivy accord, blended with fig milk. The latter bridges seamlessly into the heart, where it's joined by a touch of vanilla and galbanum - keeping the green fig affair politely evolving. In the background, clean woods support the scent, further enhancing the previous notes. It's a lovely composition, bright and easygoing, focusing on lighter parts of fig in juxtaposition to Figue Extreme's penchant for the deep woody facets. These scents gave me a deeper look into the rest of the collection, further cementing my initial impression: the whole presentation is streamlined and minimalist, but the scents themselves surprise by how daring and out of the box they are! Bordering on experimental, they seem far less inclined on following established tropes, and much more focused in fleshing out their own concepts... Which for me is a big plus! Growing up in rural Virginia in a one income family, there weren't a lot of beach vacations (though I've had many as an adult). What we did have were summer days in the Shenandoah River, or gentle hikes in the mountains ending in hours of sandy creek splashing and minnow catching. There are a lot of fragrances out there that give off a beachy feel, and Sydney Rock Pool very much does, but it also has a little bit of a mountain river vibe that brings me back. We wore sunscreen at the river too! Sydney Rock Pool smells like limestone, clean spring water and sunshine to me. The actual list of notes includes minerals, coconut skin, sandalwood, driftwood, narcissus, frangipani, jasmine, sambac, seaweed, ambermax and sea salt. This has a clean sweetness that really does give coconuts and beaches, but the pure watery nature of the fragrance is something special. This is not another Soleil Blanc clone. This is a pure summer scent that I just want to live in. Longevity and sillage are definitely on the lighter side with this one, but I feel like if this were a beast, it would just be a completely different fragrance. My favorite jasmine scent! SOTD: Grand Jaz Mixer from @house_of_heartistry Eric, the owner of the brand, is a really creative guy, who does great wonders with his nose. His stuff is all natural with a few creations having a bit syntethic additives such as this and Lizard Mojo. All the creations I've tried so far is pretty unique and well priced and he is a lovely guy to talk with. This is a simple but elegant take on one of my favorite notes, jasmine! It's a "masculine" jasmine, sweet and euphoric, you just wanna keep sniffing it. With warm spring almost feeling like summer again, I reached for my cherished Silk Blossom from Jo Malone today. Silk Blossom is a limited edition, but it's re-released about once every two years. The first release was in 2014, if I'm not mistaken, and my version is from 2019. The fragrance is about Silk Tree blossom, but since I've never had the opportunity to experience the smell of this tree, I associate its scent with cherry blossom. Cherry blossom is one of the first trees to blossom, bringing joy as spring days finally arrive, and the fragrance evokes the same joy for me. Silk Blossom is so lovely, it has a fresh, delicate, floral, fruity smell with hints of apricots, and the pink color of the bottle only enhances my associations…

NEYDO BERRY CRAVING 23.06 What is your SOTD? 💬 ⏪ [ #AD] I discovered Neydo at the Paris Perfume Week. Frankly, I didn't remember their scents much (it was near the end of a long day of smelling), but their display was arguably the best at the event (with tablets playing 'dream' videos accompanying each of their fragrances). The colorful bottle line-up helps as well; especially this bright red Berry Craving. But what's inside? ▶️ Well, you've guessed it. Berries. This is a tart, fun, quirky fruity scent. I get a slight bubblegum fruitiness from it. The lychee (and rose) is reminiscent of Oud Satin Mood, minus the oud. The concept of Berry Craving is 'a dream of childhood Summer days in a magical garden', which should give you a good idea of what to expect. Leaning traditionally feminine a bit, but definitely leaning youthful and playful. And sweet; Berry Craving gets sweet and stays sweet, with a candy-vanillic base. I would've enjoyed it more with the sweetness toned down, but it seems to play well into some of the popular trends (I think especially for perfumes geared towards women). The ambergris, spices and patchouli notes listed don't come out to play on my skin. It's completely fruity throughout, drenched in sweetness with a floral edge. But even those florals are quite overpowered, they are giving the whole scent a distinct edge, but they don't take center stage ⏺️ Which is fun, albeit that I do miss some restraint and I wouldn't mind some more contrasting base notes. I enjoy the scent, but wouldn't necessarily go for it as a perfume to go out the door with. If you like that Oud Satin Mood vibe, think of this as the bright half of that fragrance. ⏩ I have a feeling there will be others from the brand that suit my taste more, so I'll be going through the samples soon.

Vanille Des Afriques is the newest addition to the formidable collection of personal fragrances from Ormonde Jayne. It’s a true Madagascar vanilla accord blended with orris butter. Vanille Des Afriques is quite the conundrum for me. The Vanilla is not the vanilla fragrance we instinctively imagine, but rather it is a closer to reality note of the natural element itself. Thanks to some fantastic notes of coriander seed, bourbon and cedar, I find that the fragrance is a boozy dry, woody affair that slips a calling card into your palm at the hotel bar, and deftly, seductively saunters past into shadows at the edges of your vision. Green, floral, and fresh, it truly embodies the soul of the park, slightly abandoned — bitter stalks and ivy leaves, blooming magnolia, moist soil, moss covered in cold dew, and weathered wood of benches.
