A year ago on May 6th, 2023 I achieved one of my biggest accomplishments by graduating from THEE illustrious Florida A&M University. As a First Generation Rattler it is not easy breaking generational curses and starting a legacy of my own, but I am so proud that my legacy starts with ME! eternally grateful to famu for igniting a flame in me that can never be extinguished 🐍🔥 my love & passion for travel honestly started at famu… and I can genuinely say that DejaTheExplorer would not exist without the relationships I made at famu. those relationships invited me on my first cruise, prompted my first passport application, encouraged my first ever solo trip (to Australia btw), and many more travel firsts. so as I post my last set of grad pics (for now), let me share my story. — my journey to this point started 10 years ago this week when I committed to famu as a high school senior. I had never been to Tallahassee before, nor stepped foot on any hbcu campus… so I had no clue what to expect. I also had no desire to get a passport or even travel within the states fr, all I knew was I wanted warm weather LOL. I had a TIMEEEE freshman year (IYKYK), but I left famu after that year in search for some different things. I still came back for homecomings, birthdays, graduations, etc — but not being an alum of the university that I had become so fond of just didn’t sit well with my spirit. When I found out famu had the exact joint MBA/MS program I was looking for, I knew that was God ordering my steps. So I applied, waited 5 everrrrrr to get my acceptance letter (gotta love my hbcu 🙃), and started that program 2.5 years ago. It was a long journey balancing ALOT and going through some extreme highs & lows, but I MADE IT! Now grades are in and these two degrees ARE CONFIRMED.
