The ego is seductive, it propels us forward as we create the beginnings of a Life, only to be the very thing in the way of a larger Self later on. As kids, we needed to survive, and our survival was based off being loved by those who cared for us. Some are taught that love will only be given if we succeed, making those around them feel better about their own inadequacies. Some were taught that failure is the path to being loved, crafting a presence that is non-threatening to those around them. All of these survival-based motivations affect our decisions and dilute our output. We must release the need for earning love for the sake of the Work that must be done.
