The cottage is a haven with a fully equipped kitchen and essentials provided - from cooking oil to coffee-making tools. For longer stays, cleaning facilities and complimentary use of the washing machine and dryer are included. And if you're lucky, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Fuji, with the option for evening BBQs and Bonfires for an extra fee in winter and spring. It's truly glorious with a Bose Mobile sound system provided too. Can you just imagine the setting? I made brekkie this morning with the falling rain and it's an escapade to another world. 🌷☀️🌺 𝕓𝕝𝕠𝕤𝕤𝕠𝕞 🌺☀️🌷 . I visited Nezu Shrine for the つつじ Rhododendron flower festival 🤩🌺 Look at all these beautiful flowers!! I was so amazed by their color and vibrancy 🥰 . I wore kimono to take some cute photos with the blooms ✌️I wore this red kimono that I picked up at Kamakura on a previous weekend day trip 😄🌊 I paired it with a cream and orange obi that has many flowers embroidered on it so I thought it would be perfect for this visit 🌸 I also wore a purple obijime and accessorized with a Jiji broach that I use as an obidome 😉🐾 Oh! And I also tried out my new zorii sandals for the first time! This day was HOT 🥵 Thankfully this kimono is for spring/summer and is way lighter but it was still so so hot 😮💨 But it was still so fun walking around the temple festival and seeing all of the gorgeous florals! 🌺
I'm astounded by the different and distinct cultures within Japan. I spend an afternoon and evening getting an initial taste of Otaku culture in Akihabara, home to all things cosplay, anime, and manga. I'm dazzled by the seemingly infinite number of gaming centers magnetizing and captivating their patrons, and the more adventurous (reckless?) who go-kart the busy Tokyo streets in cosplay costume. I'm exposed to the >100 maid cafes in this area alone where the maid is dressed in a French maid costume and addresses the patron as master or mistress in a high-pitched-squeaky voice. The streets are peppered with maids in costume advertising and competing for business. Screaming, crying, throwing up. Look how cute the iconic Totoro cream puffs are. 🫶🏼😭 I remember seeing this on IG years ago and knew I NEEDED to try it despite it being a bit out of the way from our other spots. 🥹 You can find these Totoro cream puffs at the Shiro-Hige Cream Puff Factory. There’s one in Tolo Bakery and Cafe and another closer to the Studio Ghibli Museum. The cream puffs are offered in four flavour variations and we got the strawberry and custard for ¥600 each. The pastry itself was alright, but the fillings tasted fresh and rich, without being too sweet.
