April 16th, 2023: Our main goal for the day was the Kinkaku-ji Temple (金閣寺), which translates to "Golden Pavilion Temple," although its actual name is Rokuon-ji (鹿苑寺), meaning "Deer Garden Temple." Given its golden facade, it's no surprise that most people know it as the Golden Temple. It's one of the main attractions in Kyōto and tends to be quite crowded even on weekdays. We arrived just before opening time (daily from 9 am to 5 pm), and there was already a long queue forming. Once inside, the crowd dispersed surprisingly well as everyone sought out the best photo spots, allowing for a relatively relaxed experience to admire the temple and its garden. Afterward, we strolled around the temple grounds for a while before heading back. It's definitely recommended to arrive just before opening, preferably on a weekday. The rest of the day, we explored Kyōto and visited various smaller shrines, indulged in a delicious bowl of ramen at @icchanramen , and enjoyed the beautiful weather by lounging by the Kamo River, watching the herons. (scritti giapponesi 5) -La Guerra Onin- Prima dell'inizio del periodo Sengoku, il clan Ashikaga aveva governato il Giappone, per oltre due secoli, sin da quando Taukauji, nel 1338, si era fatto nominare Shogun, dopo la fuga dell'Imperatore Go Daigo. Sotto il bakufu degli Ashikaga si realizzò una sintesi tra la cultura imperiale e quella samurai e fiorirono le arti: nacque il teatro No, l'ikebana, la cerimonia del tè, la pittura ad inchiostro e si sviluppò il pensiero Zen. La capitale Kyoto divenne un polo culturale internazionale con la costruzione della Rokuhara (residenza dello Shogun) e Kinkakuji, mentre gli Ashikaga riallacciarono i rapporti con la Cina Ming e la Corea Joseon, importando seta, porcellana e altri merci preziose. Tuttavia, la gestione amministrativa dell'Impero pose le basi per la disgregazione stessa dell'unità politica. Gli Ashikaga avevano eliminato il sistema burocratico, che affiancava ai governatori militari dei kokushin civili, e permesso che i primi potessero tassare i domini, loro affidati, costituendo delle forti milizie private. In tal modo l'autorità militari finirono per accentrare i poteri, ponendo le basi dei futuri Stati regionali, dei daimyo. Nel 1467 i nodi vennero al pettine, e gli Ashikaga non ebbero più la forza di mediare tra le fazioni in lotta, come i clan Hosokawa e Yamana, in una spirale di violenti scontri, che portarono non solo alla distruzione di vaste porzioni della capitale, ma anche allo svuotamento della residua autorità shogunale. Le potenti famiglie militari, che amministravano le province, approfittarono del vuoto di potere, per scollegarsi anche de iure dal centro imperiale, mentre in molte aree i contadini cominciarono a sollevarsi. La Guerra Onin durò per un decennio fino al 1477, demolendo la pace preesistente.
