My short play "Welcome to Herbalicious" is part of @whimproductions' Alphabet Soup: Theater from Queer Voices short play showcase. The director Gary Heisserer has done a fantastic job with it and the actor are killing it! It's so great to have @lukeknopke and @d_watts back in one of my plays. They were both in Boxed. And I love having @ssheeriidaan and @blipey_the_clown in the show! And here's a delicious cherry on top - we'll have had at least two sold-out crowds during the run of this show! #newplays #lgbttheater #kctheater #alphabetsoup2024 #alphabetsoupkc

The @warringtonartsfestival holds a special place in our hearts at Dragonfly, as it was where “Wet Dream With Jesus” debuted in 2022. We’re thrilled to continue collaborating with the festival, especially with the launch of the ACE Place Partnership fund today. This initiative invites artists, theater companies, and community organizations to participate, bringing much-needed attention to the Warrington arts sector. We’re eager to collaborate further with the festival and look forward to exciting ventures ahead. Stay tuned! #northernarts #warringtonartsfestival #collaboration #lgbttheater #theatercompany

"Modeling important values in and out of the theatre such as consent, access, and emphatically queer joyfulness, Queer Cat’s performance offerings throughout these pandemic times have been thoughtfully crafted and boldly imaginative. Thankfully they left us one last production to remember them by—the gorgeously-rendered Forgetting Tree, co-produced and directed by Jes DeVille of Openhaus Athletics. Combining the creative gifts of cellists, clowns, acrobats, dancers, permaculture designers, and the fierce love of a Living Altar (Rawiya Tariq), Forgetting Tree offered remembrance, ritual, and catharsis to those of us fortunate enough to experience it—both in the room and virtually." — Nicole Gluckstern 💜 💜 💜 @kqedarts [ID 1: Six-photo collage via @kqedarts. We’ve got some important news to share: Queer Cat Productions will be shutting down operations this year. Forgetting Tree is our final show. Unfortunately, arts funding is changing, and the grant landscape seems to be reverting to a pre-pandemic model. This loss of funding is too much for a small company like ours; we are just one of the many companies unable to weather the storm. But this doesn’t mean we didn’t win—we envisioned a performing arts company that was not just LGBTQIA+ but queer, and we made it happen. We envisioned a theater company that paid and supported artists, and we did that! We envisioned consent-forward, accessible theatrical experiences and every year, and we grew towards greater accessibility and greater care. We had big dreams, and we went big. Queer Cat Productions is six years old! That’s a really good run: six years of laughter, joy, supporting artists, and being part of this community. You made all that and more possible. Thank you so, so much. We want to celebrate these wins with you one last time, and we invite you to join us at our final production, Forgetting Tree. Forgetting Tree will premiere at Z Space November 3, 4, and 5, and will be available virtually starting on November 12th at 6:00 PDT. You can grab your tickets at queercatproductions.com/jesdeville! First up is Òrale, a mini-festival of pieces directed by David Herrera Performance Company with an exciting who’s-who of nationally recognized Latinx dance-makers, with live music provided by the excellent El Vez and the Memphis Mariachis. Next, Sean Dorsey Dance encores The Lost Art of Dreaming — a visually stunning and emotionally ecstatic work, setting its sights on a future of love and collective liberation, expressed through a choreography of queer trans and non-binary bodies. Finally, Queer Cat Productions and Openhaus Athletics install a “consent-forward” interactive and ecologically-engaged experience called Forgetting Tree in Z Space’s spacious lobby. Curated and created by Jes DeVille, this work promises to stimulate all of the senses — most especially that of the revolutionary within. The background is a topographical map with a purple overlay. Welcome, new followers! We’re so grateful for your support—thank you for being a part of our story! 🌈 At Queer Cat, we’re committed to the spirit of play, as interactive and consensual; to curiosity about our world and each other; and to haunting: ancestry, fluidity, and resilience. We envision a world where artists are valued and cared for. Along with creating spaces that center artists and seek to provide access, agency, and opportunities for growth, we pay our artists. As artists ourselves, supporting artists is our priority. We have a lot of exciting things to share with you all this year, and we can’t wait to grow with you 😻✨ [ID 1: A collage of headshots and candids of Queer Cat Productions company members and friends interspersed with performance photos from our shows RISE and The Gay Divorce Play. We’ve built our Company Meeting Agreements—a living set of guidelines that we all follow to ensure everyone is heard and able to fully and safely participate in all projects—around our commitments to consent-forward, accessible theatrical experiences. Impact Over Intent means we don’t prioritize what we meant to do over how it affected others. You’ve probably seen the phrase that intent isn’t magic, and it’s true—intentions don’t change the harm experienced, especially if we haven’t met those intentions in the first place. ✨ How do you practice impact over intent? ✨ [ID 1: Text against a pale purple arch reads: Impact Over Intent.
