I decided to delay my April update because I went to visit my daughter in Boulder, CO. We had the *best* time despite some less-than-ideal circumstances including the weather. (Part 2/3) Excuse blurry photos from my shaky hands and tired self on the last day. 😅😮💨Positive’s of DreamHack are, I met some of the most amazing people in the world who I cannot wait to hangout with, see again, or whatever we talked about doing in the near future. Thank you guys for being the best, showing up, checking on me, the sleepy talks, many laughs, and memories that bring me happiness 🥰❤️🩹✌️ These are people DreamHack NEEDS TO HAVE GUEST, AND ATTEND, OR WHATEVER, FOR THEM AS MUCH AS THEY ARE ABLE/WILLING!!! This truly is a wonderful convention, despite problems in the cosplay area that I feel will do better with the new management, and I look forward to attending as a vendor, a competitor, or even guest in the future. As far as a job goes, I’ll take making more money by continuing to work whenever my health allows me to do so safely. I wish the new/returning staff luck and only everything good. I am never going to try to be hired as staff since the role I was kind of guaranteed, but not, but was (I cannot begin to explain the mess of messages & convos). Yes, it is messed up and hurt me. The role was given to someone else, which I understand, and I have the highest hopes DreamHack will be run more smoothly by the new (even old) team and managers running the show. 👏 Unfortunately, my dear friend is not working with the company anymore. I hate that for them because of how much they cared about their job and others. I have no doubt they will go on to be very successful, AND with MORE REST!! ❤️🩹❤️ Cheers to everyone who made my DreamHack better. Mein Lebenslauf hat Lücken. Es fühlt sich für mich nicht an, als hätte mein Leben Lücken. Ich habe Kinder geboren und mich in den ersten Lebensmonaten intensiv um sie gekümmert. 24/7 an jedem einzelnen Tag meiner "Auszeit". Carearbeit leistet jeder Mensch in irgendeiner Form - ein Leben lang. Genau darum ist sie so wichtig. Ohne #Fürsorgearbeit würde unsere #Gesellschaft nicht existieren. Dennoch hängt unsere individuelle Existenz davon ab, dass wir Geld zur Verfügung haben. Einkommen, Rentenpunkte etc. Gerade hier werden Menschen, die Carearbeit leisten abgestraft. Aufgrund der Intensität der #Fürsorge sind es vor allem #Eltern und #Pflegende. Hier vor allem Frauen. Sie werden nicht eingestellt weil sie Kinder haben, machen keine Karriere weil sie Teilzeit arbeiten, #GenderCareGap, #GenderPayGap, #GenderPensionGap ... all das. Daher ist es mir ein großes Anliegen, dass Carearbeit sichtbar wird und Anerkennung findet. Vor allem weil wir in diesem Bereich tatsächlich Skills erwerben und ausbauen, die uns auch im Beruf behilflich sind. Ich möchte meinen Beitrag leisten, eine neue Normalität zu schaffen. Eine Welt, in der eine Person, die eine wichtige gesellschaftliche Aufgabe erfüllt, nicht schlechter gestellt wird. Die nicht sagt: "Ich arbeite nicht, ich bin nur Zuhause". Das ist Arbeit - unbezahlte Arbeit, die sich vielleicht nach unserer aktuellen Definition nicht anfühlt wie Arbeit. Doch es ist Arbeit, ohne die wir kein würdiges und gesellschaftliches Miteinander hätten. Ich möchte ein Zeichen setzen gegen den Druck, den viele Menschen verspüren, „Lücken“ im Lebenslauf zu kaschieren, Elternzeiten kurz zu halten, nicht über die Pflegebedürftigkeit von Angehörigen zu sprechen, sprich die #Carearbeit einfach komplett auszublenden, aus der Angst heraus, es sei nicht gern gesehen und könne die Jobchancen verringern. Das müssen nicht alle gut finden oder verstehen. Aber wir müssen darüber sprechen. Die #Geburtenrate sinkt, junge Menschen entscheiden sich für #Karriere statt für Kinder weil sie beides nicht unter einen Hut bekommen.
