Theres something so special about seeing the products of creativity all lined up and on display. . Each one of these items has already spent time in human hands, being worked over, tweaked, thought about, loved. These items already have a life before they even get to the point in their journey of being used, whether it's a hand painted pendant being worn for the first time, or a new cup with its carefully thumbprinted handle being filled with its inaugural cup of joe, or these minis (that wow, have been so popular, thank so much everyone!) And the fact that most of these pages have travelled with me everywhere I go, for months, a few even years. . My favourite part of a handmade things, mine or of other makers, is seeing the hands in the work, and sharing the human experience. Hello lovelies! In case you havent heard.. which you probably have because I've been yackin' about it.. I'm going to be at the MAG tour!! For those of you new to this event, The Merrickville Artists' Guild tour is a fabulous two weekend studio tour in Beautiful Merrickville Ontario, Canada. The tour will be running September 28th & 29th, and October 5th & 6th. THAT'S THIS WEEKEND AND NEXT WEEKEND 🤗 There are several stops along the way with a handy map to follow through the village. You can see as many or as little artists as you like. Shop, browse, be inspired, chat with the artists, have a snack at one of the delightful eateries in town, make a trip of it! Each stop has one or more artist(s) showcasing their work in too many mediums to list, all in their unique spaces. At my stop, I'll be hosted by Holly Dean, an incredibly whimsical multimedia artist who holds super fun and playful workshops and runs an amazing online community called ArtsyLife (@LiveArtsy.Life), as well as Larry Thompson, a professor at Carlton University in Ottawa who hand carves unbelievably intricate peices in the traditional format of the centuries old technology of printmaking and book arts. As for me, I've got some pieces from my newest love: Pottery, as well as some big ol' paintings, some little sketchbook minies, a collection of collaborative jewerly with Krista Cameron Pottery, and.. I'm gonna bake cookies. Talk about a line up! Come meet us at 606 ELGIN STREET IN MERRICKVILLE ONTARIO! A massive shout out goes to @hangupsframing in #Brockville today. They've been working away on a collection of frames for mini art works that I pulled from a couple of my sketchbooks and paint pads. I went in today to bring in the works to match up with frames and they were so friendly and excited right along with me. I am beyond thrilled to bring these little works out from their bindings and I cannot wait to see them snug in their frames! . These art works, along with some bigger paintings, old and new, a selection of pottery, and a whole bunch of jewelry collaborations with @kcameronpottery will be making their way to the #MAGtour (Merrickville Artist's Guild Tour in Merrickville Ontario) September 28th & 29th and October 5th & 6th. I've been lake side this week, soaking up some rays (but not too much 😬) and enjoying some watercolour + doodling. Fitting for the waves under the dock to inspire watery art. I posted a story yesterday featuring a little art-in-action and you guys!! You're so nice to me!! check my story for a little more. . . These mini's are destined for this fall's Merrickville Artists' Guild tour... that is, if you dont claim them first. I've been working with Hang Ups in Brockville to get some other minis framed too. These ones are unframed as of yet, but I'm pretty excited to get some sketchbook art out into the world in loving display. They'll also be helping me make a really cool gallery wall style arrangement to display them at the tour.
