MT PROPELLER is a German manufacturer for propellers used in many ways. Their propellers are mounted on planes, aerogliders, hovercrafts, dirigible balloobs or even in wind tunnels. As those propellers are everywhere, there are many versions of them. You can have fixed or variable pitch propellers, wooden or composite ones, and featherable ones or not. Let's clarify their denominations : MT(1)-(2)-(3)/(4) is the standard model for propellers part numbers. MT means it is a MT PROPELLER one. (1) can be empty or can be a "V", it means this prop has a variable pitch or not. (2) is the propeller model (ex : MT-181 or MTV-6). (3) can be "A" or "R" ; if "A", the prop is not featherable ; if "R", you can feather it. (4) gives you informations on the blades type, it is generally done with two linked numbers (ex : 187-129). The Time Between Overhaul (TBO) for the MT PROPELLER props families are given in the Service Bulletin number 1 (latest revision) and depends on the type of the engine it is mounted on. They alors can have a special inspection at the third of their life if they are used for aerial meetings or aerobatics purpose. Those overhauls are executed by MT PROPELLER itself or by an other approved worksdhop, but the delay for it is currently very long due to issues to find parts or due to the number of props to be overhauled at the same time. I had the great pleasure of spending a few days with that airplane and with the man, thanks to whom this 140 will fly and be a true Time Machine to the late forties for many years to come. It’s something special to keep history alive in that way, and even better to share it with the next generation. I am grateful to be fortunate to have met people like that on my journey and I hope that someday I’ll be in a position to do the same.
