Jordan Trail | Day 41-42 | Homestay Abu Sabah (bedouin tent) - Shakriya | Kilometers 547-582 We’re finally in the Wadi Rum Desert! 🤩 We leave Abu’s homestay early in the morning and make our way to Humeima to get some supplies. Two local men give us a ride back to the trail, 4 km up the busy Desert Highway. Navigating has never been this easy, all flat and in one straight line. We sing and dance as we make our way to the big rock arch. We drink tea with two bedouin men, meet the local ranger and befriend a camel. I climb up the arch. The rest of the day we chill, get sandblasted and enjoy a beautiful sunset. The next morning we wake up at 03:30 am, pack up our camp and one hour later we’re on the road. We drive to the hot air balloon take off place. Right before take off they cancel the flight, it’s too windy. We drive back to the camp, drink tea with Ahmed and then hit the trail again. We walk from giant rock to giant rock, from yellow sand into red sand, and from the quiet into an area where many tourists are being driven around in Toyota’s. فرع بنك الإسكان في شارع الأمير محمد (وسط البلد) ⬇️ تأسس بنك الإسكان للتجارة والتمويل عام 1973م، وبدأ البنك عمله متخصصاً في مجال التمويل الإسكاني. ويعتبر هذا الفرع أحد أقدم فروعه. جاءت نشأة البنوك في مراحلها الأولى بالأردن كمحصلة لتطوّر واتساع شبكات النشاط التجاري الأردني مع الدول المجاورة وضمن الاقتصاد العالمي، وتنوعت ما بين بنوك وطنية وفروع لبنوك أجنبية، وكان منها البنك العربي الذي افتتح مقره الرسمي في الأردن عام 1949م، ثم توالت نشأة البنوك كالبنك العقاري المصري العربي (1951م)، ومصرف الرافدين 1957م، والبنك الأهلي (1956م)، فبنك الأردن (1960م)، وبنك القاهرة عمان (1960م)، ومن ثم ظهرت بنوك تمويليّة متخصصة بالتمويل الصناعي والإسكاني، فتأسس بنك الإنماء الصناعي (عام 1965م)، وبنك الإسكان عام 1973م. تزامن تأسيس بنك الإسكان وتخصصه بالتمويل الإسكاني، مطلع السبعينات، مع الاتجاه في حينه لإنشاء مشاريع سكنية تشاركيّة، مثل ضاحية الحسين، وإسكان ماركا ومدينة أبو نصير وغيرها. وجاء ذلك بعد سنوات من تأسيس المؤسسة العامة للإسكان (عام 1965م)، وبالتزامن مع تأسيس دائرة التطوير الحضري (1980م)، اللتين رعتا التخطيط لهذه الاسكانات. استمر هذا الاتجاه الاسكاني حتى أواخر الثمانينات، حين حدثت انعطافة في السياسات الإسكانية، مهدت الطريق للإنسحاب التدريجي للدولة من سياسة التخطيط السكني، مع إقرار الحكومة توصيات الإستراتيجية الوطنية للإسكان عام 1989م، والتي تبنت بديل القطاع الخاص الموجّه، والتزمت الحكومة بتنفيذ حزمة التوصيات التي اقترحتها الإستراتيجية. وركزت هذه التوصيات على تمكين القطاع الخاص من أخذ دور إنتاج الوحدات السكنية. وتُوج التوجه الجديد بقرار من مجلس الوزراء بالموافقة على برنامج إعادة هيكلة قطاع الإسكان في العام 1996م. في حين جرى تكليف المؤسسة العامة للاسكان بالقيام بدور المسَهِل والممكن للقطاع الخاص وذلك بإنشاء شراكة معه لإدخاله في إنتاج الشقق والوحدات السكنيّة. أما البنك، فقد أحدث توجهاً جديداً كنتيجة لهذا التحوّل على مستوى السياسات الاسكانيّة، وتحوّل إلى بنك تجاري شامل عام 1997م. #jordantrip #jordantravel #jordantourism #discoverjordan #jordan🇯🇴 #shareyourjordan #livelovejordan #myjordanjourney #jordantraveler #ig_jordan #welcometojordan #igersjordan #vscojordan #jordanie #jordania #giordania #traveljordan #visitjordan #explorejordan #gojordan #everydayjordan #spiritofjordan #thisisjordan #simplyamman #seeamman #discoveramman #Architecture #façade #Street #urban

Jordan Trail | Day 39-40 | Wadi Aheimar - Homestay Abu Sabah (bedouin tent) | Kilometers 524-547 7am and we’re almost ready to start our hike. Essa catches us just in time to tell us rain is coming, and let today’s hike through a narrow canyon just now have the highest flash flood risk of the whole trail. We decide not to risk it. The guys give us a ride to Abu Sabah’s bedouin tent (homestay). By foot “only” 22 km, but by car we gotta drive around and backtrack everything we hiked in the last four days. At the homestay we watch the desert sky darken and see it pouring down in the distance, but the rain never gets to us. We stay there for two nights. The second day we have some planning to do for the last section of the trail. We walk 1 km to a little “supermarket” cause we need some extra supplies. We end up at the school where they give us apple juice and chocolate cake meant for the children. In very basic English we chat with the English teacher for a bit. He calls the person with the key to the supermarket where we can only get some chips and cookies. The rest of the day we just wanna chill, but Abu arranged that someone drives us to the Humeima ruins. Well, okay then. In the evening we hang out with the women. Again we watch the sky darken and see it being illuminated by lightning. Jerash was another place we have been wanting to go. It wouldn't be worth a trip on its own but if you are in Jordan it is worth the hour drive from Amman. A spralling area built by the Romans, my favorite area was the theater. It was quite steep and the seats uncomfortable! 😆 [pics 1-3] They even had earthquake prevention tactics when building their pillars. Jordan was a welcome change to Egypt. You could walk the streets and markets without getting harrassed, enjoy a local meal at a restaurant, get fresh squeezed juice and we even saw Overlanding vehicles! Another difference is their currency, the Dinar is stronger than the USD. So it was actually expensive to go out. They also rarely will take USD. So make sure you have their currency. They still have some of the original nomad tribes here. The Bedouin. They raise sheep and goats, living in tents as they roam where their herd needs to be. Camels [pic 4 with babies!] are well taken care of as they are worth a lot for their milk and babies. They are not hired for rides of any sort. Our tour guide asked us to not ride any animals while in Jordan. She said it would be more civilized to never ride. I love the translation discrpencies sometimes but it worked perfectly here. Petra e il deserto del Wadi Rum per me sono stati due bei test. Primo perché avevo la febbre ma sono riuscito a fare dei trekking non così semplici. Il Dislivello era abbastanza sostenuto in un lasso di tempo relativamente corto e sotto un sole cocente. I terreni invece erano completamente differenti: A Petra una roccia liscia ma irregolare, nel deserto beh sabbia a tratti morbida e in altri dura e friabile. Secondo perché in queste condizioni ho testato più seriamente le Columbia Konos TRS. Tutte le sensazioni avute il mese scorso sono confermate. Confort, sicurezza e stabilità a livelli eccellenti…. E per me non è così sempre trovare una scarpa così! Jordan Trail | Day 37-38 | Wadi Al-Saif - Wadi Aheimar | Kilometers 495-524 It’s an easy walk from Wadi Al-Saif (1) to Wadi Gseib (4), or at least it would’ve been if it wasn’t 37 °C. Every time we see a nice spot in the shade we take a rest (2). Mom is feeling especially bad and starts seeing mirages. By then it’s the hottest time of the day and although we only got 2,6 km to go we decide to take a long rest. Mom immediately falls asleep and I make noodles for lunch. After 3 hours we’re recharged enough to walk to last 45 minutes to the camp and see a lot of camels along the way (3). Essa and Ahmed await us with a cold Pepsi and ice cream. Luxury! The next day is described as a difficult trail. By now we’ve hiked some crazy routes and compared to that we find it easy to make our way up through the rough terrain (5-7). It helps that today’s it’s “only” 29 °C. After the descend over sandstone rocks we find ourselves once again in a wadi.
