On Friday 04/19/24, I attended an event with his Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, Governor of Abia state Nigeria, as the guest speaker. The event was hosted by Johns Hopkins SAIS and held at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center in Washington DC. It was themed: State Governance and Economic Transition. Dr. Otti gave a presentation on Nigeria’s state creation history, states’ mineral resources, Abia state’s Internally Driven Revenue (IDR), impact of technology, challenges facing Abia state and Nigeria, his achievements since he became Governor, and future transition plans for Abia state. His excellency hammered on corruption and insecurity as some of the biggest issues in Nigeria. Dr. Otti maintained a calm demeanor and effectively answered questions from the audience.
