We saw a post about some #kittens in the rainstorm found by a neighbor in a downstairs patio.. mama who was #feral was trying to save them from the rain and moved them there ..sadly they were drowning and would freeze (kittens can’t regulate their own body temp til age 4 weeks) We hopped to the rescue. These babies had gone 24 hours without food and knew they needed our help. We were grateful that @whiskerstailsandferals would be stepping up to rescue so we made room to foster right away. These babies who are full of fleas so right away got bathed, loved and warmed.. we lent a trap to get mama for #TNR we had a vacation planned so we’re gonna take a break but unfortunately without fosters these babies wouldn’t make it. The smallest of the 13… He came to us unbelievably tiny, emaciated, and with obvious trauma to his little tail (it’s been cut off 😭). Fortunately his injury is healing with antibiotics. We have lovingly named him Muggsy (Bogues) after the shortest player to ever play in the NBA. Although short in stature, he made up for it with heart and determination as a point gaurd amongst giants. Little Muggsy seems to be thriving. We’re continuing to keep a close eye on him because he is quite literally half the size of the other kittens from his litter. 猫会議🐾 第1回に参加させていただきました さくもんとの山下代表のお話 𓏲𓎨里親さんが飽和状態で 譲渡のペースが落ちてきていること (適正飼育の意識が浸透しているからこそ 飼わない選択をする家族も増えたのでは？) 𓏲𓎨高齢等の理由で居場所を失う猫が増えていること 𓏲𓎨室内飼育が当たり前になった反面、 猫が増えている事例に気付きにくくなったこと 𓏲𓎨行政への苦情が公害よりも多いこと 𓏲𓎨ボラさんが抱え込み疲弊していること 𓏲𓎨殺処分について 途中涙を堪えながらお話くださいました🐈 グループでの話し合いの中で ｢猫(問題)の横には人の存在があるんだから 私たちボラって 猫を救ってるんじゃなくて人を救ってる｣ って言葉が重たく深く刺さった 🧡TNRの推進 🧡ルール作り 🧡資金作り 🧡居場所作り などなど 課題は盛りだくさん そして若い世代の話は新鮮だった 凝り固まってる自分に反省💦 でもどこまでいっても『人』！ 人の意識改革が重要‼️ 今度は猫を飼ってない方とかの 感じてることも知りたいなー 私は ｢保護猫活動してるよ｣に対して ｢凄いね偉いね｣で終わらせたくない 小さくてもいいから何か一緒に アクションをして欲しい アンテナを立てて欲しいって思ってる だから今回の署名みたいに一緒に行動してくれる友人、先輩大好きだし 困った時に手を差し伸べてくれる方々は恩人💖✨ 大きな活動は出来なくても 私みたいに出来ることを少しだけやってみる まずはそんな人を増やしたい ボランティアって 時間、体力、お金、メンタル、場所… 全てに余裕が無いとできないこと ちょっとしか余裕無いわーって人も そのちょっとをみーんなが持ち寄ったら 大きな力になるはず👍🏻✨︎´- 帰りの車の中でも談義は終わらず 翌日仕事をしながら ポコポコ湧いてくるアイディアを 裏紙にカキカキ(仕事しろ) ワーク中に上手くアイディアが出てこなかったので 猫ノート作る📓📖📒！ なんだかワクワクしてきた💫 さくもんとの皆さま はぴにゃんプロジェクト様 ありがとうございます💘 次の猫会議が楽しみ〜！ 誰か一緒に参加しよ〜？ #猫会議 #夜の密会 #ねこたちの未来を考えるワークショップ #モデル犬って可哀想じゃね #金 #人の意識改革 #地域猫活動 #TNR #署名

Thank you Sue Anderson for taking these two girls in for CRS today to be spayed! Nalla was pregnant with 5 and Wobbly wasn't pregnant but her uterus was very friable. I am not sure how many litters each have had, but they will not have any more. The last cat in this household needing to be fixed has an appointment on May 6th. Trapped at a new location this week - outside a couple of medical buildings in Van Nuys. Caught this guy across the street from there. Only caught 1 at the medical building, and he was already eartipped, so we let him go. I followed him down the street into a residential area before that and met a man who said someone already fixed a bunch of cats there. I saw 2 eartipped cats in his yard. Turns out another trapper I know had trapped at 2 houses on that block. I’ve had these little monsters for a few weeks now. Time flies when you’re actively trying to prevent kittens while simultaneously fostering kittens. 😀 I’ve named them after my favorite refreshing beverages: 🫖Sweet Tea-brown tabby 🍋Lemonade-grey tabby 🧋Cold Brew-calico I met them when working an apartment complex several weeks ago. I told the caregiver I would come back for them and for mama cat when they were ready to wean and get them ready for adoption as well as get mama cat spayed. Poor mama cat has had countless litters and was a main contributor to the number of cats being born to an outdoor life there. She’s now a member of the last litter club and I’m so thrilled for her. Her kittens are relatively healthy, they had minor URI symptoms and intestinal parasites but they’re doing well. Cold Brew has some corneal scarring, which may or may not go away over time, but she can still see and has a proper calico attitude so I’m not worried about her. 😼 Kitten season is in full swing. Some photos from the awesome Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program held ~ 2 weeks ago! 🐈 Community/feral cat populations deserve medical care too! This event put on by the school through the Shelter Medicine Club allowed us to do just that! These cats were humanely trapped, anesthetized, spayed/neutered, received vaccines, flea/tick prevention, and post-operative care including fluids, pain medications, and other medical care if needed such as wound care and antibiotics. They were then released back to where they were found. There are so many positives that come from a program like this for the benefit of the cats and the community as you can tell! 🫶🏻 Last year, I was a surgical assistant for this event, and this year I was a part of the medical team! I had such a great and rewarding time volunteering at this event. 🐈⬛ The kitty in the second photo was receiving some post-op TLC including fluids, vaccines, and a physical exam to assess for bite wounds or other abnormalities that we could care for before they woke up from anesthesia! Everything we did was then documented on a medical record for each cat which is what I was filling out in this photo. Nuevo caso 👀 Esta gatita posiblemente tiene un virus que se transmite únicamente entre gatos, el cual puede afectar su calidad de vida, debilitar su sistema inmunológico y, provocar su muerte. Hoy se comenzó con un medicamento que ayuda a gatitos con su condición, esperemos que en una semana se encuentre con más fuerzas. Y aproximadamente en 1-2 semanas colocaremos la trampa para llevarla a esterilizar. Ella acaba de parir, y es doloroso ver cómo el abandono y la irresponsabilidad en la tenencia de animales los lleva a sufrir. Estos animales suelen deambular por calles y bosques, reproduciéndose cada 4 meses. Ahora esta gatita debe luchar no solo por su propia salud, sino también por el cuidado de sus cachorros. Por eso insistimos tanto en que la esterilización previene el sufrimiento animal. Sin embargo, el dinero que tenemos debe ser utilizado en esterilizaciones; si lo usamos para rescates, cuidados temporales y tratamientos, eso nos limita para hacer más esterilizaciones y hacer las capturas #TNR. Claro, salvar a un animal es un gran logro, pero a veces no tenemos los fondos suficientes para todo. Friday, April 26th, 2024 was a monumental day! Paws 4 Purpose got to do something that has never been done before in Onslow County. A feral cat who had already been TNRed was taken to the shelter by mistake. The shelter contacted us, we made arrangements to go right over and return that not-so-sweet feral girl back to her neighborhood! This is part of the new Return to Field practice. Any feral cat who is not adoptable will be fixed, vaccinated, and returned to where they came from. With the new procedures in place, this cat was safely taken back to where she had been trapped and the only home she has ever known. A few months ago, she would have been euthanized. There have been so many people working tirelessly to make these changes happen. To advocate TNR, to speak for the voiceless, to be a friend of street cats that others have failed. The best way to help a community cat is to TNR.
