Cliff also served as President of the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation from 2003 to 2004. Daniel Couture brings 30+ years of senior management experience in Information and Technology. Most recently, Daniel was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for UNICEF in New York City. Every once in a while, she likes to bring new materials and let her students run with creativity. "I always learn a lot from this process. I might see different ways to utilize my materials. I also see their imagination at play," Debbie said. "I might discover some hidden strengths that I haven't seen before, which will lead to new future activity ideas." Debbie's pictured student shouted, "letters!" as he approached a table Debbie had covered with felt letters. Debbie said he is a very self-controlled student, so he looked to her for direction before doing anything. She said she told him to have fun with the letters before she started to observe him explore. He picked up various letters, saying which letters they were and some of their sounds. He found the first letter of his name before placing each letter in the correct order - a task Debbie was not sure he could do on his own. She said he did so without any prompts or expectations. Silent Victims of Crime (SVC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to empower children of incarcerated parents in South Carolina and Florida by providing educational enrichment, social support, and positive mentoring. Current statistics states that there are 2,7 million children experiencing parental incarceration right now and 70 % of children of prisoners may end up in the prison system. The Mission of SVC? "Assist children of incarcerated parents by enhancing their ability to improve their economic, educational and personal stability while addressing behavioral, social and mental issues. We help these at-risk children to deal with life challenges in a positive, proactive manner that empowers them to make wise choices and contribute positively to society."
