Rust never sleeps. . . was just about to have a rusty nap but was asked to do some TV commentary on our tragic plethora of domestic violence. So off came the sweats! Would be happy to say my opinion was a joyful topic but the plethora of humans being affected by the most appalling incidences of #domesticviolence have to and need to stop. It is a huge job to navigate & halt – & unfortunately, it is happening all over Australia. If you can, try to offer your support or even volunteer at a shelter, a women’s refuge or anywhere at all where women - and so very often young children - seek refuge so they can feel safe and out of harms way. So much kudos to (mainly) women who have made that terrifying, exhausting and brave leap out of a destructive home. AND also don’t forget our Sunday afternoon dinner service - @plates4mates_sydney - which happens from 3pm Sunday - at Prince Alfred Park, right next door to Central Station. The lines of those in need are getting so much longer as cost-of-living is affecting everyone. The ‘plate4mates’ event organisers - who absolutely work their fingers to the bone, acquire everything gratis for the never-ending lineup for of our less fortunate I always in need of everything including volunteers. We had put in for a Food Support grant from the @cityofsydney to help us out, but unfortunately & so sadly our burgeoning service did not make the cut. Can’t believe it: how totally devastating was that? 🙏🏻😔 Take a look at stories above so you can register to be a volunteer or make hot meals (hello cafe & restaurant friends – there must be some food left over?) or supply toiletries (chemists, @aldiaustralia @colessupermarkets @igaaustralia @woolworths_au @harrisfarmmarkets , soft drink companies, frutiers, pastry, cake & bread shops & as we gear up for winter – blankets & sleeping bags would be extraordinary for our ‘mates’ who are doing it very tough …. and many of whom are homeless. This sweet face was nearly euthanized due to space. Read that again.
