Diary of a Caretaker... I grew up in a home with no yelling, no profanity and no hostile behaviors or activity. With this type of upbringing as you can imagine as I matured I did not accept this negative behavior in any of my personal or professional relationships. No yelling at me, no cursing at me and definitely no hostile behaviors. I practice calm mornings and calm nights as a form of mental health and spiritual balance.. ohhhhh how my life has changed... There is a thief called "SUNDOWNING" that is trying to steal my JOY and my Peace of Mind. Imagine waking up EVERY morning to someone yelling "I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE" and having to convince them to get ready to go to the very place they LOVE.. and waking up at least 3 times a night to the same yelling (mom changes her Pjs at least 3 times every night in the midst of these rants) Well this is my sister @ronka8 and my "New Normal" with our mom. So if you see us one day and we not our normal Cheerful Joyful selves just know it was probably one of those nights/mornings where SUNDOWNING got the W and we took a L 😒 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️ I am proud to say that if I showed you the score board Ronka and I are Definitely WINNING. It ain't easy but we doing this with the help of Prayers and support from our friends and family. (WE are definitely blessed 🙌🏾) I am sharing this because I know my sister and I are not alone in this Caretaker struggle and I just want to encourage someone while I encourage myself... Thank y'all for being so patience and gracious and supportive in ways you didn't even realize. ...as of January 28th, she took her final earthly rest. ...the weight of being physically motherless is heavier than ever. The weight of physically being without 'rents - parents, grandparents, and now godparents has made itself known. ...the lessons I've learned and am learning about this kind of grief, don't be surprised when you see more posts and more workshop and/or grief support group flyers pop up. I dare not keep this to myself. How else can I walk alongside others if I haven't taken such steps myself?! ...through it all, God has kept me and been faithful to me, in so many ways, for which I have endless gratitude.
