Figuring out how to make the water recycling system better. Just got a new 10 gallon holding tank to receive the rough filtered water. Also got another pump with more pressure to replace the old main pump. The old main pump will now be dedicated to feeding water to the main filtration system. With 96% of UK peeps drinking tea daily, that’s a heck of a lot of microplastics. Tea bags can be made from polyethylene terephthalate (food-grade plastic), polypropylene, or PLA - meaning they’re non-biodegradable. In fact, 30% of tea packaging is made up of non-recyclable foil, plastic wrap, plastic sealing, & plastic wrapping! The tea industry is rife with human rights abuses, including child slavery & forced labour. It doesn’t matter if your tea is certified by TrustTea, FairTrade, Ethical Tea Partnership or Rainforest Alliance, the person who picked your tea will only receive 12p an hour - unless the company works directly with growers like Cafe Direct. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀? 1. Flavour other dishes: add chamomile/jasmine to rice or chai/cinnamon to porridge oats etc. 2. Add to your tub for a relaxing bath soak. 3. Make your own peppermint tea mouth rinse. 4. Sprinkle on soil/potted plants as a fertiliser. 5. Add to your compost heap. 6. Use it as a natural dye for fabrics. 15 WAYS TO UPCYCLE USED TEA LEAVES 🍵. What’s your favourite tea? Mine is English breakfast from @brewteaco! Since switching to loose leaf tea, we’re overflowing with used tea leaves😂!! So a quick bit of research led us to find 15 ways of reusing old tea leaves🧐. HOW TO DRY TEA LEAVES: when you’re finished with brewing, put the leaves in a colander & press out as much water as possible. Spread out on a tray/paper & leave to dry. KITCHEN: Flavour other dishes: add chamomile/jasmine to rice or chai/cinnamon to porridge oats etc🤤. Wash your hands with them to get rid of onion/garlic pong😷! BEAUTY: foot soak🦶; cooling eye mask👀; relaxing bath soak🛁; sunburn soother☀️; blister soother🩹; or peppermint tea mouth rinse🦷. GARDEN: Sprinkle on soil/potted plants as a fertiliser🌺. Add to your compost heap🥦. Deodorise the outdoor space where your pup goes to the loo by sprinkling tea leaves over it💩! HOME: DIY room spray: tea leaves + essential oils + vodka🙈.
