This staircase is recorded as having come from no 17 Grand' rue, Morlaix (Brittany, France), where it occupied a central, enclosed hall, and linked the rooms at the street front to those at the back, facing a yard. Only about ten of these timber-framed houses are still to be found in Morlaix. The distinctive, local form of this type of staircase with landings (pondalez from pont d'aller or 'bridge for going') gave such houses their name, maison à pondalez. It has been suggested that these town houses were built by local nobles, and that the house-plan recalled that of their rural manors. The conspicuous offset newel post of this staircase is carved with a mix of late medieval ornament and with the figures of a bishop, St Clement, a king of France and St John the Baptist (at the top), perhaps the patron saint of the original owner. The balustrades enclose linenfold panels, popular all over northern europe 1460-1550, and are topped with post figures of St Catherine, along with peasants and beasts. Rich with carving, and lit dimly from below, such staircases must have created a magnificent effect within the tall, narrow space. __________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #london #ukhistory #vandamuseum #museumsinlondon #sightseeinginlondon #uk #explorelondon #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

The V&A Rotunda Chandelier, created in 2001, is one of a number of works from Chihuly's 'Chandelier' series begun in 1992. Chihuly works extravagantly in richly-coloured blown glass, drawing on the historic techniques of the Murano glassworks in Venice. He was initially intrigued by the space-changing potential of the chandelier form, and has succeeded in massing colour, shade and light alongside a driving sense of movement. Made by Chihuly and his studio team in Seattle, Washington State, USA, each separate glass element of the V&A Rotunda Chandelier was either free-blown, or was mould-blown into ribbed moulds. Each element is coated inside with polyurethane adhesive and was tied on individually with stainless steel wire to an armature welded from steel rod. A team of six started wiring on from bottom to top and took over five days to complete the work. _________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #london #ukhistory #vandamuseum #museumsinlondon #chihulyglass #sightseeinginlondon #uk #explorelondon #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

Neal's Yard is a small alley in London's Covent Garden between Shorts Gardens and Monmouth Street which opens into a courtyard. It is named after the 17th century developer, Thomas Neale. In 1976, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam bought offices at 11 Neal's Yard,  and alternative activist and entrepreneur Nicholas Saunders established the bulk Whole Food Warehouse; he had bought 2 Neal's Yard, a derelict warehouse previously used by the former Covent Garden fruit and vegetable market, for £7,000 a few years earlier. From this success, grew other enterprises in other buildings such as Neal's Yard Apothecary (now known as Neal's Yard Remedies), Neal's Yard Bakery,Monmouth Coffee Company and Neal's Yard Dairy, _____________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #london #ukhistory #nealayard #sightseeinginlondon #uk #explorelondon #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

Oxford is home to many museums, galleries, and collections, most of which are free of admission charges and are major tourist attractions. The majority are departments of the University of Oxford. The first of these to be established was the Ashmolean Museum, the world's first university museum, and the oldest museum in the UK. Its first building was erected in 1678–1683 to house a cabinet of curiosities given to the University of Oxford in 1677. The museum reopened in 2009 after a major redevelopment. It holds significant collections of art and archaeology, including works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Turner, and Picasso, as well as treasures such as the Scorpion Macehead, the Parian Marble and the Alfred Jewel. It also contains "The Messiah", a pristine Stradivarius violin, regarded by some as one of the finest examples in existence. __________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #london #ukhistory #oxford #citiesinengland #uk #explorelondon #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

Oxford is at the centre of the Oxford Green Belt, which is an environmental and planning policy that regulates the rural space in Oxfordshire surrounding the city, aiming to prevent urban sprawl and minimize convergence with nearby settlements. The policy has been blamed for the large rise in house prices in Oxford, making it the least affordable city in the United Kingdom outside of London, with estate agents calling for brownfield land inside the green belt to be released for new housing. The vast majority of the area covered is outside of the city, but there are some green spaces within that which are covered by the designation, such as much of the Thames and river Cherwell flood-meadows, and the village of Binsey, along with several smaller portions on the fringes. Other landscape features and places of interest covered include Cutteslowe Park and the mini railway attraction, the University Parks, Hogacre Common Eco Park, numerous sports grounds, Aston's Eyot, St Margaret's Church and well, and Wolvercote Common and community orchard. ____________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #london #ukhistory #oxford #citiesinengland #uk #explorelondon #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

The history of Oxford in England dates back to its original settlement in the Saxon period. Originally of strategic significance due to its controlling location on the upper reaches of the River Thames at its junction with the River Cherwell, the town grew in national importance during the early Norman period, and in the late 12th century became home to the fledgling University of Oxford. The city was besieged during The Anarchy in 1142. The university rose to dominate the town. A heavily ecclesiastical town, Oxford was greatly affected by the changes of the English Reformation, emerging as the seat of a bishopric and a full-fledged city. During the English Civil War, Oxford housed the court of Charles I and stood at the heart of national affairs. _____________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #london #ukhistory #oxford #citiesinengland #uk #explorelondon #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

The Coln, along with the Bibury Spring, supplies Bibury Trout farm, founded in 1902 by the naturalist Arthur Severn, to stock the local rivers and streams with the native brown trout. The hatchery spawns up to six million trout ova every year. Three medieval clusters are all interspersed by substantial grass, making for a dense developed area compared to suburbs but not in terms of roads; a footbridge connects both sides (Arlington and Bibury) as well as various footpaths in all directions. Elevations vary widely even throughout the village parts, with the gentlest slope in the eastern escarpment of the Cotswold Hills for 1 mile (1.5 kilometres) or more in each direction taken by the main village road. ___________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #london #bibury #cotswolds #uk #explorelondon #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

In the Domesday Book (1086), a record of survey done under William the Conqueror, the place is named Becheberie, and it is recorded that the lands and church in Bibury were held by St. Mary's Priory at Worcester, from whom it passed in 1130 to the Abbey of Osney, near Oxford: the Abbey continued to hold it until its dissolution in 1540. The Church of England Church of St Mary is very late Saxon with later additions and listed in the top of the three heritage/architecture categories, Grade I. Its main material is random (cobblestone) and coursed rubble limestone with a slate roof. It is formed of a nave with north and south aisles, south porch, north west tower and chancel, tower, arched doorways. The churchyard has been described as being "of special interest because of the remarkable survival of so many excellently carved table tombs with bale tops, and headstones with cherubs and symbolic figures of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries". There is an early canonical sundial on the south wall. From AD 1130 until the English Reformation during the 16th century, the church was a peculier of Osney Abbey in Oxford. ___________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #london #bibury #cotswolds #uk #explorelondon #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

The Tower of London, officially His Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, is a historic castle on the north bank of the River Thames in central London, England. It lies within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, which is separated from the eastern edge of the square mile of the City of London by the open space known as Tower Hill. It was founded toward the end of 1066 as part of the Norman Conquest. The White Tower, which gives the entire castle its name, was built by William the Conqueror in 1078 and was a resented symbol of oppression, inflicted upon London by the new Norman ruling class. The castle was also used as a prison from 1100 (Ranulf Flambard) until 1952 (Kray twins),[3] although that was not its primary purpose. A grand palace early in its history, it served as a royal residence. As a whole, the Tower is a complex of several buildings set within two concentric rings of defensive walls and a moat. There were several phases of expansion, mainly under kings Richard I, Henry III, and Edward I in the 12th and 13th centuries. The general layout established by the late 13th century remains despite later activity on the site. __________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #london #toweroflondon #uk #explorelondon #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

Gothic architecture is an architectural style that was prevalent in Europe from the late 12th to the 16th century, during the High and Late Middle Ages, surviving into the 17th and 18th centuries in some areas.[1] It evolved from Romanesque architecture and was succeeded by Renaissance architecture. It originated in the Île-de-France and Picardy regions of northern France. The style at the time was sometimes known as opus Francigenum (lit. 'French work');[2] the term Gothic was first applied contemptuously during the later Renaissance, by those ambitious to revive the architecture of classical antiquity ___________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #london #uk #explorelondon #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

Kerry Cliffs are widely accepted as the most spectacular cliffs in Kerry. The cliffs stand over 1000ft above the wild Atlantic and were formed in a desert environment 400 million years ago. Out to the west stand the amazing Skellig Rocks one of only three UNESCO world heritage sites in Ireland. Of course the Kerry Cliffs are the closest viewing point to the great rocks and also the famous Puffin Island. Allied with these facts as you stand at the summit of this mystical place and breath in the freshest of air, deep in to your lungs from the wild Atlantic and observe this natural wonder. You can relax and unwind and observe the majestic views from here which reach out for 30 miles of the surrounding areas. Many Twitchers come here to us to enjoy and observe the thriving colonies of cliff birds. ______________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #ireland #kerrycliffs #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

Ross Castle perches in an inlet of Lough Leane. It is likely that the Irish chieftain O’Donoghue Mór built it in the fifteenth century. Legend has it that O’Donoghue still slumbers under the waters of the lake. Every seven years, on the first morning of May, he rises on his magnificent white horse. If you manage to catch a glimpse of him you will enjoy good fortune for the rest of your life. ________________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #ireland #castle #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

Leprechauns are key figures in Irish mythology and if you find one of the little people of Ireland, then according to folklore, you may find his pot of gold. In Irish folklore a Leprechaun is one of the faerie folk and are often associated with faerie forts, the ancient Celtic settlements. According to popular belief, this small elf like figure is pictured wearing traditional emerald green clothes and is often sporting a beard and smoking a pipe. The Leprechaun is a cobbler by trade, but he has a secret stash of gold that he must reveal if you can capture him. But by his nature the Leprechaun is cunning and mischievous and will try anything not to hand over his gold. **Couldn't you just imagine seeing a leprechaun in this beautiful forest? ☘️☘️ ______________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #ireland #castle #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

In Ireland, castles are associated with strategic military advantages and were built to defend against attacks along the Irish coastlines. It’s known that medieval kings constructed them in large numbers due to their defensive significance from invading enemies either by sea or land. As per historical accounts, these stone fortifications helped protect personal wealth as well as political power, which was also related to control of resources, including tax collection authority. ____________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #ireland #castle #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

Killarney National Park (Irish: Páirc Náisiúnta Chill Airne), near the town of Killarney, County Kerry, was the first national park in Ireland, created when the Muckross Estate was donated to the Irish Free State in 1932. The park has since been substantially expanded and encompasses over 102.89 km2 (25,425 acres) of diverse ecology, including the Lakes of Killarney, oak and yew woodlands of international importance, and mountain peaks. It has the only red deer herd on mainland Ireland and the most extensive covering of native forest remaining in Ireland. The park is of high ecological value because of the quality, diversity, and extensiveness of many of its habitats and the wide variety of species that they accommodate, some of which are rare. The park was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1981.The park forms part of a Special Area of Conservation and a Special Protection Area. 🌿🌿🌳🌳⛰️⛰️ ___________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #ireland #castle #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

This fine tower, built of mica-slate interspersed with granite is about 30 metres high, with an entrance 3.5 metres from the base. The conical roof was rebuilt in 1876 using the original stones. The tower originally had six timber floors, connected by ladders. The four storeys above entrance level are each lit by a small window; while the top storey has four windows facing the cardinal compass points. Round towers, landmarks for approaching visitors, were built as bell towers, but also served on occasion as store-houses and as places of refuge in times of attack. ___________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #ireland #dubllin #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

The first evidence of human presence in Ireland dates to around 33,000 years ago, with further findings dating the presence of homo sapiens to around 10,500 to 7,000 BCE. The receding of the ice after the Younger Dryas cold phase of the Quaternary around 9700 BCE, heralds the beginning of Prehistoric Ireland, which includes the archaeological periods known as the Mesolithic, the Neolithic from about 4000 BCE and the Copper Age beginning around 2500 BCE with the arrival of the Beaker Culture. The Irish Bronze Age proper begins around 2000 BCE and ends with the arrival of the Iron Age of the Celtic Hallstatt culture, beginning about 600 BCE. The subsequent La Tène culture brought new styles and practices by 300 BCE. _________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #allyouneedisapassport #ireland #dubllin #europe #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

Saguaro National Park's oldest rocks, the Pinal Schist, predate the formation of the contemporary Basin and Range Province, of which the park is a part, by about 1.7 billion years. The schist is exposed in the Rincon Mountain District along a dry wash off Cactus Forest Loop Drive. Other ancient rocks, 1.4-billion-year-old altered granites, form much of Tanque Verde Ridge in the Rincon Mountain District. Much later, about 600 million years ago, shallow seas covered the region around present-day Tucson; over time that led to deposition of sedimentary rocks—limestones, sandstones, and shales. Limestone, which occurs in the park in several places, was mined here in the late 19th century to make mortar. The future park land had six lime kilns, two in the Tucson Mountain District and four in the Rincon Mountain District. Three, all in the Rincon Mountain District, can be visited today—two along the Cactus Forest Trail and one along the Ruiz Trail. ___________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #traveler #arizona #desert #seeamerica #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

Some species of barrel cactus reach over 1 metre (3.3 ft) in height at maturity, and have been known to reach 3 metres (9.8 ft) in some regions. The ribs are numerous and pronounced, and the spines are long and can range in color from yellow to tan to red, depending on the age of the plant and the species. Flowers appear at the top of the plant only after many years. The barrel cactus can live to be over 100 years old. Barrel cactus buds typically start to bloom in April with a bright yellow or orange flower. Pink and red varieties also exist but occur less frequently. The flowers only appear on the very top of the plant. As the flowers begin to wilt in early May, they may change color. A late summer desert rainstorm can produce a late bloom, as shown in the photograph below of the orange-flowered variety (it bloomed two days after a hurricane in mid-August and continued to bloom through the end of September). **Saguaro National Park- East- Feb 2024 _____________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #arizona #desert #desertphotography #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife

phytogeography, the Sonoran Desert is within the Sonoran Floristic Province of the Madrean Region of southwestern North America, part of the Holarctic realm of the northern Western Hemisphere. The desert contains a variety of unique endemic plants and animals, notably, the saguaro (Carnegiea gigantea) and organ pipe cactus (Stenocereus thurberi). The Sonoran Desert is clearly distinct from nearby deserts (e.g., the Great Basin, Mojave, and Chihuahuan deserts) because it provides subtropical warmth in winter and two seasons of rainfall (in contrast, for example, to the Mojave's dry summers and cold winters). This creates an extreme contrast between aridity and moisture. **Saguaro National Park- Feb 2024 _____________ #travel #traveladdict #ilovetotravel #instatravel #travelersofinstagram #wanderlust #solotravel #girlswhotravel #femaletraveler #idratherbetraveling #adventure #advetureaddict #mytravelmoments #mytravellife #photography #amateurphotography #adventureiscalling #desert #saguaro #arizona #seeamerica #traveler #seekingadventure #tinaslittlelife
