The injection technique itself causes and inflammatory response - this can easily cause disappointment over the following weeks because as the swelling subsides - your lips may appear significantly smaller than how they look immediately after the injection. The filler has not dissolved or disappeared, you have not wasted your money! Patience is key here. The product has simply sunken and formed a payer at the base of your lip Most patients find they need 2 or 3 layers before the filler builds up and no longer has room to sink - leaving you with a fuller look. Note - once filler has been built up you should only need to replace the top layer every 6-12 months as the bottom later slowly dissolves. I’ve had a revelation!!! I’ve turned into my mum! 😆 Although I think she might be on to something! I’ve always loved the sun, and i still do! I come alive, think there must be something in my heritage that makes me thrive in heat/sun! Since Ive been away I’ve looked for shade, had high spf on and had a hat on! Something I never would have done years ago (except the 50+ spf said does that to you!). Not long after Austin was born I found a mole on my foot of all places and the g.p though it was a melanoma! Two days of sheer panic, new baby, thoughts of chemo etc went through my head! Thankfully it was removed within a week and it was non cancerous. But it made me think!! Dissolving dermal fillers with hyaluronidase is a solution to the challenges of overfilling, but it shouldn’t be used as an easy out. For many, when fillers are mentioned, their initial thoughts are “fake” “pillow face” “ duck lips”. And a good number of celebrities, who had veered into this territory, have had their fillers reversed successfully, so it’s OK, because fillers can be dissolved...Right? Yes, they can. But filler dissolving is not without it’s drawbacks. Hyaluronidase is a blunt instrument. Less blunt with ultrasound guidance, but blunt nonetheless. Hyaluronidase can’t tell the difference between synthetic filler that has been injected and your own hyaluronic acid. This causes treated areas to lose their fullness in a relatively short time frame - up to 48 hours. This can leave the skin in the treated area looking awful. Baggy, saggy, deflated and lax. This is particularly true where large areas of filler have been dissolved. And it’s a double whammy, because the injected filler was masking natural age-related volume loss…so it’s entirely possible that, if you’ve had multiple filler treatments over a period of 5-10 years, and get it dissolved, you’ve not only lost the filler, but you’re also 5-10 years older! Many people feel they look significantly worse following filler dissolving. Aesthetics treatments don’t need to look fake! Nor should we be ashamed about talking about them. 50 years ago, we would evaluate our appearance based on what we would see in the mirror, what we see around us, how we look at any one time compared to photos/video footage from the past and the reactions of others on seeing us. Will I bruise? There are lots of vessels in the face so it is highly possible that you will bruise! Bruising is one of the risks with injectables, now and again it's going to happen, a bruise in isolation is not an indication of any lack of competence. You can expect some minor bruising and if you don't have any then that’s great! If you are on certain medications this can increase your risk of bruising, and should be properly assessed. I’ll harm it I have caused a little bruise or two over the years but I’d like to meet an injector that hasn’t!
