. ワラス石像 Category : Stone Name : Huaraz Stone Statue Age : 900 BC- Country : Peru BC900年-BC500年頃に最盛期を迎えた、 チャピン文化の古代遺跡のChavín de Huántar (チャビン・デ・ワンタル遺跡)で見つかった石像。 Huaraz(ワラス)とは、 ケチュア語の夜明けを意味すWaraq(ワラック)を語源とする南ペルーアンデス山脈の麓町である。 標高は3100mに位置し、 熱帯山岳部にある温暖で穏やかな気候であり、 チャビン・デ・ワンタル遺跡はそこから、 南東115km、ブランカ山脈東麓のアンデス山中に位置する。 1919年8月に縦横に張り巡らされた地下通路がある石造大神殿を有するチャビン・デ・ワンタル遺跡が発見され、同時にさまざまな石彫が注目された。 石彫の石種は石灰岩、砂岩のものもあったが、 ほとんどのものが火山凝灰岩であった。 周辺地域に豊富に存在したこと、 加工性が良いこと、多孔性が高いため軽く、 運送と彫刻作業が容易であることが理由とされている。 発見されたさまざまな石彫としては、 遺跡の主神体であるランソン（スペイン語で大槍を意味し2本の大きな牙を持つ、猫科動物を伏す姿をした石像）であったり、 テーヨのオベリスクと呼ばれる石柱や、ライモンディの石碑などがある。 遺跡内で特に特徴的な石彫の Cabeza Clava(カベッサ・クラバ)は、 寺院に水平方向に等間隔に埋め込まれている石像のことで、 頭部の背面が釘のような細長い棒状の構造となっており、 壁の凹部に固定される構造となっている。 装飾的な意味合いを持つ一方で、獰猛な守護者の役割を持ち、悪霊を怖がらせる役割があったという説や神殿における幻覚作用をもたらすサボテンを使用した儀式で、 人間が次第に猫科の動物に変容する様を描いているという説もある。 そのカベッサ・クラバをモチーフとした石彫がお守りとして現在も作られている。

. 統制陶器 Category : Cray Name : Controlled Pottery Age : 1940-46 Country : Japan 戦争中に経済統制を受け統制番号(正式には生産者別表示番号)が刻印された陶器製品類のこと。 昭和15(1940)年8月頃〜昭和20(1945)年頃に 生産されたほぼ全ての焼き物が統制陶器にあたり、 窯元、裏印商標がつけられていた。 昭和13(1938)年、 外国からの輸入途絶による資源不足に陥った政府は、 民需品である戦略物資(金属、燃料、ゴム、工業塩、石炭など)の使用を厳しく制限するために、 国家総動員法を制定し、物資の統制が始まった。 政府からの戦時協力要請により、 昭和15(1940)年には、日常食器類も統制の一環を受ける。 生産管理の合理化及び公定価格の制御を目的とし、 生産品目や生産量、生産地の制限が設けられ、 識別番号の打刻が義務付けられた。 太平洋戦争開戦の年となる昭和16(1941)年、 金属類回収令が公布。 名目上、個人の自発的供出であったが、 実態は相互監視や同調圧力による強制徴収であり、 金属製品は市民の生活から消え去ることとなる。 その動きに対して、窯業界では、 陶磁器で鉄、銅製品の代替品を企画、生産し、流通させた。 戦況の悪化する太平洋戦争末期、 陸海軍は窯元から提案された統制兵器の制式採用を決定。 当時使用されていた星のマークの入っているものは、 軍用食器などとも呼ばれ、 下土官用兵営食器として使用されていた。 備蓄資源が底尽きた日本は当時、 国内流通する硬貨を回収し、 代替品として陶貨(陶器製の制式貨幣)の流通が 立案されるほど、完全に破綻していた。 当時の資料は戦後すぐに焼却処分されたり、 散逸してしまっている為、 統制番号が全国の窯業地に付けられていたのではないか と推測されているものの、定かではない。 昭和20(1945)年8月14日に終戦、 同年10月19日戦時法令の整理に関する件が決定され、 10月24年勅令第601号である、 工事事業場管理令等廃止ノ件により、金属類回収令が廃止。 同年、12月20日に公布された国家総動員法及戦時緊急措置法廃止法律により国家総動員法が廃止されている為、昭和20年頃、統制陶器の製造は終了したものと考えられる。 ... #encyclopedia_of_archives

. パロサント Category : Nature Science Name : Palo santo Country : Peru 南米沿岸地域で育つ Bursera graveolens から採れる香木。 「Palo Santo」はスぺイン語で神聖な木という意味で "Holy Wood"( 聖なる樹 ) とも呼ばれている。 古代インカ帝国のシャーマンが儀式の際に 薫香として燃やすことで邪気を払うと信じられており、 南米先住民医学にも使用される。 アルゼンチン北西部クリオロ族はパロサントの木を ルタ・シャレぺンシスの葉と一緒に燃やし、 その煙を中耳炎患者の耳に吹き込んでいた。 パロサントがとても貴重な植物である特徴の一つとして、自然に倒木した後にしか新しい木が生えない という特徴を持つ。 木としては珍しく「雌」と「雄」があり、 成熟するまでに雌の木は40-50年、 雄の木は200年ほどの歳月を要すると言われる。 成長する際は、１本の雄の木に、 ８本ほどの雌の木が生えて、1つのグループとなる。 パロサントは近年、乱獲により 大幅に個体数が激減しており、 ワシントン条約の規制対象となっている。 ぺルーでは管理された領域内で自然に倒れた樹のみを 収穫するという植生に関する法令によって規制。 持続可能な収穫を大切にし、苗木から育てて、 植林し、10 年以上の年月が経って、 自然に倒木した パロサントのみを使用している。 そのままでも十分香りを楽しむ事ができるが、 燃やす事でココナッツのようなほんのり甘い香りが漂い、スマッジングにも利用できる。 ... #encyclopedia_of_archives

. シュトーレン Category : Food Age : 1474年- Name : Stollen Country : Germany ドイツのドレスデンが発祥の地といれているシュトーレン。 表面の真っ白さや形は、キリストをむつきで 包んだ姿とされている。 「坑道」や「地下道」の意味を持ち、 見た目がトンネルの形に似ている事が謂れで、 バターを何回もくぐらせる事で 日持ちがするように作られている。 来客時などにスライスして提供し、 クリスマスをカウントするように食べることが 一般的である。 シュトーレンの起源としては、 1474年に病院が受け取った請求書に クリストブロート（中世ドイツ語のシュトーレンの意味）の記述があり、貧しい人に配られていたようである。 現在のシュトーレン生地は、 洋酒に漬けたドライフルーツやナッツなどが たっぷり混ぜ込まれた高級菓子のイメージであるが、 中世ドイツのシュトーレンは現在のような形ではなく、 水と酵母、小麦粉を練り作る質素な焼き菓子であった。 それは、15世紀に入るまで、 ローマ教会の教義がバターなどの食材の使用を 許可していなかった事が影響していた。 そこで、ザクセン選帝候エルンストと弟のアルブレヒトは、バター禁止令の廃止を教皇ニコラウス五世に嘆願し、 1491年より現在の形のシュトーレンが誕生した。 諸説あるが、日本では1969年に 福岡県の老舗洋菓子メーカーがドイツから レシピを持ち込み製造したのが最初と言われている。 マジパンというアーモンドの粉を砂糖で 練ったもの入りのものなどが一般的ではあるが、 現在では様々なバリエーションのシュトーレンが ドイツのみならず世界各地で食べられている。 ... #encyclopedia_of_archives
. 木彫りの熊 Category : Wood Age : 1923 - Name : Wood carved bear Country : Japan 1916年（大正5年）洋画家の山本鼎が モスクワの農民が制作した木彫りの作品を見て感激し、 日本の貧しい農村でも生活の糧として 取り組むことができないかと考えました。 1919年に長野県小県郡神川村(現上田市)神川小学校に 於いて農民美術練習所を開設することにしました。 それが農村美術というものが生まれました。 1921年（大正10年）尾張徳川家の当主であった 徳川義親も同様に欧州旅行の際に立ち寄った スイスのベルンでお土産として木彫りの熊に 感銘を受けました。 そこで徳川義親は1923年（大正12年）に、 北海道二海郡八雲町にある旧尾張藩士たちが 入植した農場「徳川農場」での、冬期の収入源として、 農場で働く農民たちや付近のアイヌに、 熊の木彫りを生産を推奨しました。 1924年（大正13年）に開催された 第1回八雲農村美術工芸品評会に北海道で 最初に作られた熊の木彫りが出品されたことを 契機に農村美術としてさらなる盛り上がりをみせる。 1928年（昭和3年）には八雲の開墾50周年を記念して 熊彫展覧会が開かれ、 戦後の北海道観光ブームも相まって、 昭和に入って全国に知られるようになった。 そのスタイルも様々に広がり、鮭を咥えるものや、 そうでないもの。ガラス目や彫られたもの。 毛並みも毛彫りと言われる細く毛並みを彫るものや、 面彫りと言われる面を取ったような 抽象的な形のものも多く生み出された。 スイスの木彫にはない面彫りは、 戦前に荒彫りと言われていたころから、戦後に、 根本勲、柴崎重行（ハツリ彫り）、 引間二郎（カット彫り）、加藤貞夫（一刀彫り）など 作家それぞれ独自のスタイルで表現が広げられていった。 ... #encyclopedia_of_archives

FAT LAVA Category : Cray Name : Fat Lava Age : 1950 - 1970 Country : West Germany ,etc FAT LAVA と2006年にイギリスで King 'Lynn Arts Centreで行われた展示会で Mark Hillによって名付けられた陶器の総称。 肥えた溶岩を意味し、世界中にコレクターが存在する。1950年から70年代に西ドイツでの 陶磁器産業の高まりとともに、 Scheurich、Ruscha、Roth Keramik、Carstens、 Bay Keramik、Jopekoなど 数々のメーカーが台頭した。 1956年にRusschaのOtto Gerharzによって 開発されたVolkanoという釉薬の広がりで、 表面にどろっとした溶岩のような表情や カラフルな色合いが特徴的な陶器が 西ドイツや周辺諸国でも作られるようになる。 Fat Lavaというものを正確に定義することは難しい。 Fat lavaと同義語で語られることが多いのが West german Art Potteryで 1949年から1990年台の芸術陶器を指す。 Fat Lavaはその中の一つの区分でもあり、 また西ドイツのみでなく、 幅広いムーブメントの一つでもある。 様々な特徴的なFat Lavaの中でも そのデザイン性でも人気が高いのが Kurt Tschörnerが1954年にデザインしたRuscha313。 背面にWest Germanyの刻印とともに 313と刻まれている。 Ruschaは1996年に閉鎖されたものの 1927年に創業されたScheurichに買収され、 そのデザインは引き継がれている。 ... #encyclopedia_of_archives
