Last week 🖼️ Rooted, an exhibit of select picture book artists is up through Feb 28th at the lovely Brandywine museum @brandywinemuseum ✨ The design of the show is great, colorful walls with large work - each piece has a mat and is framed in white. The standouts include beautiful work by @cozbi ✨ a truly stunning illustrated collage by @sophieblackall ✨ and gorgeous pieces by @frankmorrison ⚡️ In other galleries, it was fun to see some abstract work by Andrew Wyeth, great pieces by Jamie Wyeth and NC Wyeth. Plus, female Wyeths! It seems, everyone in that family picked up a brush 🧐 The museum is having some construction done, but it’s a charming place. I’m looking forward to going back in spring to tour the house and studios. In other news, I finally hung my heavy mirror and my one triptych, ‘Big Beach Octy Looms Large Over Tiny People Tanning’ 🐙 When I say I hung, I mean a terrific guy from Task Rabbit 🔨 And alas, walking around at night is a favorite thing to do. Happy Saturday 💛 here’s my #artvsartist grid 🪿hello, almost 2024 🪩 I rarely make resolutions, but its helpful to reflect back over each year and see where the gaps are. 2023 truly seemed to fly by, but maybe that’s just the way it feels the older you get.⚡️ My big moments include moving from NYC to Philadelphia last February 🏡 and moving my mom up here from Virginia 💕 I illustrated my 2nd children’s book, for @cameron_kids which will be out this Fall 🍁 I’m still a fan of IG and remain in awe of so many of my artist friends irl and virtual 🖼️ I haven’t posted as much new work this year, but I continue to paint and try to challenge myself. In the new year, I plan to pursue more licensing opportunities & maybe manufacture some products, myself 🧐 I want to sell more original work and participate in local art & craft events. I also want to finish setting up my house, hang the large art and mirrors, create some attractive storage, that kind of thing.🔨 I notice most of my photos of me are holding a glass of wine 🍷 I don’t want you to worry. I actually don’t drink alcohol that often. I do, however like the layer of glass between the camera and my face 😁 here are some new paintings and a shot of my studio. I’m really grateful to have this space to work. Sneak peek 🫣 I recently finished my 2nd book in the series of seasonal parades 🍂 I’m proud of it and I don’t think these sketches give much away, except that the baby exploring the change of seasons is not a bunny this go round. Those of you who make books know that little let down once you’re done. I miss it. And there’s no instant gratification, since it will be a full year before viewing the finished book 🦔 @cameron_kids 🧡 sigh.
