Leonardo Nierman did not start as a painter. He started as a violinist. When he was not practicing the violin, he was studying subjects like business, mathematics, and physics, additionally also studying the psychology of color and form. By the time he had finished business school, however, his sights lay far beyond the STEM and economics fields. With the help of Social Realist painter David Alfaro Siqueiros, Nierman completed a mural for a wall at his business school. Eventually, he was painting more often than anything else, soon having his work shown in gallery exhibitions around the world. Nierman's Abstract Expressionist paintings exist in harmony with his education. His trained understanding of the emotional effects of color and music - particularly by composers like Debussy and Bach - influenced his work throughout his entire career. His paintings are fluid studies on light, sound, and emotion. Each piece uses rich jewel tones of color to evoke a sense of depth, mimicking the effect of endless galaxies and bottomless oceans. 1/4 RAVITOTO A couple of months ago, I was asked if I'd be interested in creating a series of themed posters for a unique, personalized birthday gift. The concept was simple: create posters that would remind the birthday boy or girl of his or her native Madagascar. So I came up with 4 different posters representing distinct aspects of the island: food, fauna and flora. To say I loved doing this project would be an understatement, so interesting and challenging was it to do all the necessary research and develop the aesthetic for this project.
