"I glued my hair together " read on to learn the journey of the blue agave hair gel. Did you know the blue agave gel took over 2.5 years to formulate? This powerhouse was my original product I tried to create. I wanted a one and done product, a leave in conditioner with hold was my plan. One that offered moisture and great control yet didn't leave a hard, heavy or sticky residue. Traditional gels use polymers, a synthetic ingredient which is a fixative. I experimented using different polymers thinking I wasn't going to try to change the world just tweak what others before me had done. Every time it was dry, or offered little hold. Then a client mentioned low waste bars and how the conditioners don't work. That jumped me off the styler formulation train and straight into the bars which resulted in the first product of the curly bird range. The Co-Wash conditioner bar. I never stopped thinking about the styler, even trialing low waste options. I tried flaxseed based gels and gum based and it was just missing the punch. Then one day it hit me, I mixed up a batch with my new ingredient, it was the day I actually glued my hair together. The funny thing was, I actually filmed it. One day I might share it, there's me trying to scrunch out this impossible cast. Couldn't even get my fingers to my scalp, it hurt. This journey is more then just nice curly hair. It's self acceptance of you. The whole you, we can change hair easily into different shapes to look like everyone else. But is it the true you? Curly hair for most people at some time of their lives was possibly the thing they may have hated most about themselves. Reminded of that negative emotion every time they looked in the mirror. People say it's just hair, but it's far bigger than that. It's a weight on your shoulders you don't even realise your carrying until you find acceptance, knowledge and start your journey to caring for your hair. You slowly find the true you, It wasn't a wild beast that needed to be tamed, it didn't have to be the heavy burned to look like everyone else to fit in. It needed to be cared for differently and to let it grow strong and healthy and one day bloom. Like a plant that has withered burnt leaves, it takes time to regrow and slowly trim off the damage. But one day I'll realise you have gained so much more than just easy care hair. That weight of hate is lifted and seems like a distant memory. This was my journey, straightening for over a decade. It wasn't an easy journey as you can see the curls took some rejuvenation. HI Definition Curls Once upon a time, there was a woman named Sarah who had naturally curly hair but struggled to keep it frizz-free and defined. One day, she decided to try a new routine to achieve the beautiful, bouncy curls she desired. Sarah started by washing her hair with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to hydrate her curls. Multiple curl patterns are both common and VERY normal. Most people have 2-3 types of curl patterns. The most common cause of multiple curl patterns is it’s just your natural curl pattern. Many of us have more then one natural curl patterns and there’s not a lot that will change that. It’s also worth noting that our curl pattern can change over time too!
