Paddy’s zest for life was on full display this weekend, and we don’t even try to contain it. 💕🦕💕 Paddy may not be the most trained dog, but his excitement is one reason we love him. When Paddy came to live here, he struggled to walk due to his obesity and the fact his back knees were previously torn and he didn’t receive proper medical care. Paddy was also very reserved and would lick the wall. Once Paddy’s legs felt better and he lost the weight, he could jump up on things and he could compete in 5k races. 🙌 Once he felt comfortable with us, instead of licking the walls he started giving kisses to anyone that would let him💋. Paddy also didn’t bark when he first came to live here. At his last vet appointment, it was hard for the vet to examine Paddy because whenever the vet got close enough to look into Paddy’s eyes, Paddy would try to kiss the vet. 🤷♀️ People have a hard time believing Paddy is a senior. Paddy may lack some basic training but he is the kindest dog we have ever met. He is a one-man welcoming committee whenever a new dog or foster dog comes to the house. He also immediately let Rory become attached to him, when Rory was looking for a best friend. A perfect day for Paddy is going for a walk (he is great on a leash), and spending time with the down to clown pack. 🤡 Paddy is a reminder that it can take rescue/shelter dogs a while to feel comfortable in a new home. The dogs may have been through a lot of changes and are recovering from medical issues. Paddy was always friendly, but we had no idea he was so zesty. If you are in the process of acclimating a rescue/shelter dog into your home, please don’t be discouraged. 💕

Thanks a lot for all the wonderful birthday greetings 🥰 I had a great day with many presents 🎁 and a yummi “cake” 🎂 I’m not as good as unwrapping my presents as my angel sister #angelbertha was so momma had to help a bit. As you can see from my resting bitch face 🙈 I’m thrilled over my new bed, bowls, toys and snacks 😀 I spend much of the day together with auntie @syllechristiane and little human 🧑🏼 because momma has a confirmation party for a friends daughter to attend to. (On my birthday - that’s what I call bad timing 🤥). Anyway, I had a good time and little human helped me open more presents 🤩 We also went for a walkie but then he went to a friends house without me. That was upsetting for me and I “made a scene” on the couch 😆 Momma came in the evening and picked me up and then something happened during the night. I woke up around 1.30 AM in strong pain and I couldn’t rest 🙁 Momma wasn’t sure what was going on and tried to help me and we almost didn’t get any sleep. Very early in the morning she called the emergency vet and a bit later we drove to see them 👩🏻⚕️ I couldn’t lift up my tail because it was too painful as you can see in the video from outside the vet. Meet Bailey This girl ❤️ She was such a lover and so very loyal. Her forever family adopted her at 5 years old in 2014, and she thrived until the age of 14 when she crossed the rainbow bridge. Her original owner passed away and they think she would watch tv with him every night, because she loved an evening snack with her new Dad. He became her person and was always on his heels. Bailey wasn't one to play. She enjoyed trotting alongside her family and occasionally letting her Beagle qualities shine when she would chase squirrels, rabbits, and other animals. She was known as the food hound because she loved ALL food and often found herself digging through the garbage 😂 You might notice her composition on the canvas is a lot different than my typical style. Bailey LOVED pillows. She was very picky and her favorite would change. If she wasn't happy with the pillow, she'd immediately kick it away haha. It just seemed fitting to paint her as loving as she was, laying on one of her favorite pillows. She went everywhere with her family, cookouts, vacation, cabin trips. She was loved so deeply and she gave it right back in return. She'll always be missed, and now her portrait will live at the family cabin ❤️ Quote from her brother "She was loved by all, including people that didn’t really like dogs."
