ULTIMATE DESERT EXPERIENCE This was a trip like no other! Having booked clients on a @trawey_tours previously, it was our turn to experience it. Our guide was Jackson. We were picked up at 14:15 from our hotel and headed to the first stop for the quad bike tour which was our sons highlight. We also rode on a camel here before we went dune bashing in our 4x4. We had a break at the top of the dunes where we could take part in a number of sand activities which were so much fun and we had some fabulous photo opportunities as the sun was going down. Following some more dune bashing we went in to the heart of the desert to a traditional style Bedouin camp where the sun set and the lights lit the place up. We got to watch tanoura, fire and belly dance shows, eat a freshly cooked BBQ, drink Arabic tea, have henna, shisha, hold a falcon and more! Drinks were provided throughout the afternoon and evening too and we were dropped off back at our hotel around 22:00. I have to say this was hands down the best trip we have done. We have memories to last a lifetime and thoroughly enjoyed it all. I will continue to recommend and book this for clients staying in Dubai. Day two of cycling, we awoke from our cozy, cave-like guest house in the breathtaking Dana Nature Preserve to head out on the bikes the King's Highway then to Shobak Castle and ultimately, the Bedouin wilderness camp where we had dinner and spent the night. I stayed on the bike the entire ride (yay!) thru climbs and descents and along the way, got to know some of the other riders better. First time "sleeping" in a tent in a very long time... Our next highlight was the Wahiba Sands desert, where we spent a night in a tent under the stars. Despite the cloudy skies and unexpected rain (a rare occurrence highly anticipated by many Omanis as it happens only about four times a year), the experience was incredibly beautiful. We ran up and down the dunes, feeling the soft sand between our toes, surrounded by endless stretches of red terrain as far as the eye could see. Here are a few more photos from Egypt, and specifically, from Blue Lagoon that is located on Sinai Peninsula between Dahab and Nuweiba. As our tradition is, we usually hike here (~ 7kms) from the Blue Hole which is in the vicinity of Dahab and take a boat back. This time we spent one night at a camp right on the tip of the Blue Lagoon's peninsula. The Blue Lagoon is famous for its turquoise waters and is a great spot for kite and wind surfing as the wind is usually more constant than in Dahab. However, even if you're not a surfer you can enjoy some quiet and relaxed time here or in the nearby bedouin village, Abu Galum.
