#Lookback: Stories from Kumaon ❤️ Last April, we were in Almora district, a quaint hill station tucked away in the foothills of the Himalayas. We were travelling with parents so as always, the focus was staying in a place that was convenient and comfortable for them. That's how we landed in @the.kumaon, a mountain retreat located in Kasar Devi, a ridge above the city of Almora. ✨ And a retreat it was! With panoramic views of the Himalayas, the Binsar bird sanctuary in its backyard and rooms that are spacious, sustainable yet speaks of an understated elegance. Kumaon is the place, if you are looking for a quiet getaway, away from the hustle and bustle of tourist places. It's not everyday that we get to wake up with a dazzling view of the Himalayas glistening in the morning sun, majestic and breathtakingly beautiful. It's not everyday that we get to wake up listening to the sounds of silence dotted by birdsong, whispering of breeze and rustling of leaves. It's not everyday that the food that is served to us, fresh, simple, straight from organic farms that make us truly feel lighter, and realise what a wholesome meal can do to your body, and to your soul. ✨ And it's not everyday that you get to soak your feet in the freezing crystal clear waters of a mountain stream, feeling immersed in Nature, fearless and free, knowing that a leopard is lurking somewhere up in the hills not too far away, straight from the pages of a Ruskin Bond book! It’s official. My final week at @thesacredfig YTT has been wrapped up with a bow. And what a gift it was! I wouldn’t have imagined that we could pack in so much, but we did. Though the list is already long, these are only some of the highlights I experienced in the last few days, if you can believe it. 🔅Exploring hip anatomy and related adjustments with @antonbrandt 🔅Stories of the Hindu Deities and a brief introduction to Katonah yoga philosophy by @tonylupinacci 🔅The art of organizing retreats 🔅Group bonding at an amazing nearby beach, preparing us for the final “exams” 🔅Kirtan with @rebeccahajekyoga where we sang meditational mantras 🔅A written test to gauge our understanding of the knowledge we had gained 🔅Each participant led a 10-minute group class – I themed mine around spheres and how they show up in our lives and our movement 🔅A heartwarming gifting evening, filled with kind words and gestures 🔅Our graduation ceremony and celebratory dinner 🔅And finally a beautiful last morning of satsang and yoga practice to crown our journey This training has been nothing short of extraordinary. I am profoundly grateful for the entire experience, and the love and thoughtfulness with which everything was organized. There could have been no better place to spend April!
