Skagway, Alaska 🇺🇸 If you’re cruising to Alaska and Skagway is one of the stops, save this post! Here are some my favourite things to check out when you visit Skagway on an Alaska Cruise: ▪️Day Trip to The Yukon - A great day trip to really see the landscapes of Alaska and Canada’s Yukon. Great chances to see wildlife. On one tour we saw bears, moose and mountain goats. The ability to stop on the side of the road and at point of interest makes this tour one of my favourites. ▪️White Pass Summit Tour - Most tourists do this scenic train ride that takes you up to the summit of the White Pass and comes back down. There are a few different options with this train ride and the views are amazing. ▪️Klondike Gold Rush Visitors Center - Really interesting (and free) place to check out to learn about the trials and tribulations of the miners that came to “strike it rich” in Alaska and the Yukon. Most unfortunately came very ill prepared for the journey. ▪️Scenic Sailing in and out of Skagway - Depending when your ship arrives and leaves Skagway, be sure to wake up early or enjoy the sail away from your balcony or another viewing are on the ship. This is a really scenic area with all the waterfalls and mountains. Holland America Koningsdam, Alaska 🇺🇸 Swipe for more images 👉🏼 I really enjoyed my cruise to Alaska with Holland America on the Koningsdam. Here are some of the features of the Koningsdam I appreciated on my cruise: ▪️The Verandah Stateroom - It was really well designed and the space felt larger than it was. I loved the balcony, I spend many hours enjoying the views of Alaska from here. The small details including having a couple blankets and an umbrella (which thankfully I didn’t use) provided right in my cabin was great! ▪️A limit on single use plastics. In fact, I saw no single use plastics on this ship at all. My room service even all came in reusable, glass containers which I was really impressed with. ▪️I loved having a light, continental breakfast and fresh coffee delivered to my stateroom each morning. I didn’t have to worry about getting fully dressed up to go and grab my first cup, I could leisurely wake up, spend time enjoying the views from my balcony. Have you cruised to Alaska before? Kauai, Hawaii 🇺🇸 We rented a car during our visit to Kauai, as it’s so nice to be able to explore a place on your own. Here are a few of my tips if you’re planning on renting a car on Hawaii (or anywhere else): ☑️ Book your car rental as soon as you book your vacation. If a car rental is really important to you, make sure there are cars available before you book your trip. ☑️ Rent a vehicle for what type of exploring you want to do. Some roads in Hawaii or in other countries such as Costa Rica, it’s better to have a 4x4 than an economy car. Do research of where you’ll be driving and what the road conditions are, or hire a travel advisor and we can advise what car would be best. ☑️ Make sure you’re insured. Proper insurance is really important. If you think you have coverage on your credit card to cover car rentals, know what it covers and bring a copy of that specific policy. Some countries don’t accept insurance policies from credit cards or other countries than where you’re renting the car from. ☑️ Car deposits, car rental companies can block between $200 and up to $5000 on your credit card as a deposit for your car when you pick it up. This is in the terms and conditions of your car rental when you book it, however most people who book cars on their own don’t read them and then get angry that they weren’t informed. This brings me to my next and last point… ☑️ Book your car rental with a travel advisor. We can suggest the best car rental for your situation. The Pride of America actually sails around the Hawaiian Islands year round due to the fact it’s an American flagged ship. Chiang Mai, Thailand 🇹🇭 I was hosted in a Rajah Brooks Suite at 137 Pillars House in Chiang Mai. It was a beautiful, 70 square meter suite, with a four poster king bed, fully stocked bar cart, a closed in conservatory balcony, a stunning bathroom with claw footed tub, a closet area and an outdoor shower. I loved the decor of the room, it had many historical photos of old Chiang Mai and the property of 137 Pillars House as this was part of the Borneo Company's headquarters. Singapore Airlines 🇸🇬 ✈️ I was recently hosted by Singapore Airlines to experience their Premium Economy cabin on my trip with the Tourism Authority of Thailand of Canada. This was my first flight that was just under 17 hours in the air! Yes, our flight time direct from Vancouver to Singapore was about 16 hours 50 minutes. That’s one of the longest flights in the world on their Airbus A350-900. Singapore Airlines is one of my favourite airlines to fly. The service is amazing, food is great and the premium economy seating was very comfortable. Costa Maya, Mexico 🇲🇽 Costa Maya is a very beautiful, touristic cruise port area. Once you enter, you will see a “Costa Maya” sign and the shore excursions meeting area to the right. If you continue to the left and enter the “Mayan style” building, you will find a “duty free shop” and the entrance to the resort area. Here you will find the typical “cruise shops” such as jewelry stores, sunlight colour changing clothing, a pharmacy and many other tourist shops. There are some really nice places to relax here at Costa Maya, however to enjoy a beach chair you do need to purchase food or a drink. That being said, the pools here are free to enjoy and you don’t need to purchase anything to use the pools, just the chairs and cabanas. Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady 💃🏼 A cabin with a few new “firsts at sea”… My “Sea Terrace” cabin (better known as a balcony or verandah cabin on other cruise lines) had some pretty neat features, some of which are totally new to being found on a cruise ship! First, my bed transformed into a sectional couch during the day! [Swipe the photo to see it changed to a couch 👉🏼]. Second, there was a hammock on my balcony, yes, a hammock. I unfortunately now think all cruise lines need this feature as it was an amazing way to spend a couple hours, reading a book, swaying gently with the motion of the ocean. Home 🇨🇦 I usually spend my last day of each year in reflection. I crack open a bottle of wine (this #bcwine was from @deserthillsestatewinery, it’s their “Flora & Fauna” Sparking Wine) and journal. It’s a time for me to look back and take an honest look at my business and personal life. What worked, what didn’t, where I can improve, where I succeeded and ultimately, what my focuses and goals for the next year are. Mindset is a huge part of being a successful entrepreneur. Having a strong focus and a positive mindset is really important right now, especially owning my own business in the travel industry which is facing so much uncertainty. Costa Rica 🇨🇷 I had an amazing time visiting Costa Rica and I honestly can’t wait to return. I’m so grateful for the experiences I had here and I really spent time reflecting on this past year during my meditations. 2021 was another year of growth for me in many ways. Isla Chiquita, Costa Rica 🇨🇷 Wellness and my mental health has been a real priority to me this year. Travelling is essential to my mental health. You can travel safely, you just need to take precautions and pack your patience. Since July of THIS year (so in the last 5 months), I’ve been on 15 flights, 1 luxury train experience, 2 cruises, visited 2 new countries, visited Mexico 3 times, numerous hotel nights and have had more tests than I can count. This last trip to Miami and to the Scarlet Lady I did 4 tests alone. And yes, I’m heading back to the Caribbean to go on another cruise in just over two and a half weeks. Travel is essential to me. Hacienda Alsacia, Costa Rica 🇨🇷 We had the opportunity to visit Starbucks only Coffee Farm! This isn’t your typical coffee farm though, it’s primarily for research and development, they don’t export the beans grown on this property. I have so much more appreciation for coffee since the tour at Hacienda Alsacia. I learned more during this coffee tour, than any other coffee tour I’ve ever done, not to mention learning about the strides Starbucks has taken to help other local farmers in regards to sustainable coffee growing, harvesting and processing practices. Tours also end with a delicious coffee tasting using a “Siphon Coffee Maker” which felt like we were in a science experiment, brewing coffee in a way I’d never seen before. Monteverde, Costa Rica 🇨🇷 Visiting the Monteverde Cloud Forest was very interesting. We started our morning in San Jose and travelled up through the mountains to Monteverde. The views from here towards the Nicoya Peninsula are stunning! Monteverde is definitely more geared towards those who are adventurous (many ziplining options, hanging bridges, hiking, waterfalls, bird watching and “night tours” 🕷). Santa Elena is the main “town” here and reminded me a lot of Bali. Rocky Mountaineer 🇨🇦 The food on board the Rocky Mountaineer’s GoldLeaf service is so good! It’s another reason why this luxury train is so unique. Squamish 🇨🇦 I’ve been playing “tourist in my own town” this year and visiting some great attractions close to the Vancouver area. I really enjoyed my visit to the Sea to Sky Gondola last week. 🚡 I forgot how stunning the views are from up above! If you’re looking for something to do, the Sea to Sky Gondola offers something for everyone. We took my Grandmother on this trip and even she was able to complete the “Panorama Trail” which has this gorgeous lookout point overlooking Howe Sound. There’s also access to more challenging trails if you’re looking for a good hike. The Salish Sea 🇨🇦 Had such an amazing time whale watching on Saturday with @princeofwhaleswhalewatching 🐋 We had amazing weather and were able to see a couple pods of Orca Whales! If you’re ever in the Vancouver or Victoria areas I highly recommend doing a tour with them. The stunning views of the whales against the snow topped mountains was gorgeous. The crew were amazing and really engaged in telling stories about the pods we were seeing and educating guests. I’ll now never forget how “Stanley” got his name 😉 At a couple points the whales were so close that the engines to the boat were turned off and we all sat there in silence, appreciating these amazing creatures as we could hear their breath so clearly (and loudly) as they surfaced for air. When I started working for @flightcentre, attending the #FCGlobalBall was on my bucket list from day 1. In the training conference room, when they told us all about this annual event, I was shocked. A party of this size and level of crazy must be difficult to get to, I thought. It took me some time, but in 2019 I qualified as the top most improved consultant in the entire country! What an honour and experience it was to represent Canada at the Global Ball. And along with my Westshore friend @arleedevlin! We played in the massive pool of the @mgmgrand as @diplo dj’d. Moving on to a private party with @calvinharris playing. And finally, having @markwahlberg as the guest speaker for our conference. Unforgettable, unmatchable, amazing experience!

Whistler 🇨🇦 Thanks to all the hard working employees of Whistler Blackcomb that made this weird season a success. I’m sad to hear that Whistler Blackcomb was shut down so suddenly, just as their local schools started their spring break. To all my friends, in support of the hospitality industry, please order directly from your local restaurants to support them during this time. I’ve personally never used Uber Eats or Skip the Dishes, apparently it’s to the restaurant’s benefit to order take out directly, so that’s what I’ve done when ordering food out during the pandemic. I do feel that this “circuit breaker” lockdown here in BC isn’t enough. I feel like we should have had another proper lockdown weeks ago. I’m worried that restaurants will be closed for longer if they do tighten measures even more a couple weeks down the road. I want us to get back to normal, especially for my industry. The longer it takes to reduce the numbers, the longer it takes for travel to restart.
