A year ago today we invited our families to Nantucket to celebrate our official marriage that took place earlier on 10.22.22. My sister @saadlewis married us in front of Brant Point Lighthouse, it was small, intimate, and unforgettable, but not everyone was able to attend. Family is everything to us, so we decided instead of a traditional wedding after the fact, we’d host our families here at home and celebrate at all of our favorite places throughout the weekend, since we were legally already married. . Charlie is a traditional guy, he wanted to see me in a white dress so we took some photos at the Station on the boat he’s driven for 6 years, just the two of us… and it was perfect. I wasn’t going to make a bouquet but I designed this one that morning because the blooms inspired me. . And now an answer to a question nobody asked: how I became a photographer... Back in the corporate days, I savored the 14 days gifted to me by the firm to do with what I pleased. So kind of them. The sacred vacation time. I always used it to travel and burned through the last hours I had stored on a trip to Iceland. A county I’d never been to but always read about. It was there I realized this cubicle life wasn’t for me. I didn’t want to remain beholden to billable hours. I didn’t want to work 8-5. I couldn’t sit with the idea of only receiving a few weeks each year to explore and feel freedom. My first year at the firm, I ran into dozens of co-workers much older than I who socked away hundreds of vacation days and it just blew my mind that they never used them. After a few years in that world, I understood why. It’s a very high-output, highly-competitive industry - as most are - and if someone doesn’t meet expectations, someone else will. That’s how Milton in the audit department ended up with 5 million vacation hours. On that last trip to Iceland, my mind was basically turned into mush by the sheer scale of this other-worldly country. I just had a moment there, on the shores of a black sand beach, whiskey in hand, watching icebergs cleave off a glacier and plunge into the sea, where I knew I was done. All the schooling, the boatloads of stress that went into each and every licensing exam, the depression of failure, the elation of success - it wasn’t worth spending my life that way. I came back and gave my two-weeks. Never had I ever been so terrified to leave such a “safe and stable” career. Thing is, no job, not even accounting, is guaranteed. I could’ve still failed at a career I didn’t want. So I figured I might as well take a chance on doing what I love. You plan to say your vows under the cherry blossoms during a late April sunrise, but the blooms peak a month early. You get your wedding bands on a Monday, but Tuesday and Wednesday are cold and rainy. So you plan a backup elopement for Thursday, in under 48 hours. You drive to a flower shop at 6 in the morning and pick up a bouquet. You walk up to the Tidal Basin a couple moments before the sun rises without a soul around and find an arch of low hanging, persisting cherry blossoms. You say your vows beneath the arch and the sun rises between you and despite this whole story seeming slightly chaotic, it is the most perfect, peaceful moment. You soak in the feeling of all of this for a while, and then go to a coffee shop, share tiny cakes, and try calling each other “husband” and “wife” for the first time while everyone else is going about their normal days, completely oblivious to the magic. It’s just another Thursday to them. I’ve photographed so many elopements that I’ve loved, but this morning with Paul + Gabby had a rare feeling of stepping into an alternate universe together. It was so effortless and lovely and may have been a dream entirely. Felt like a real privilege to be a part of it.

It’s been a DECADE… wow, time flies. 10 years ago today we were introduced on Santa Barbara’s Land Shark and have been inseparable ever since. It’s by immersing myself in different cultures through travel that my eyes were first opened to videography. ✈️ Being an adoptee from another country I fell in love with the process of collecting memories. I feel that my exposure to changing environments has allowed me to appreciate things from various perspectives and remain calm and assertive in fast pace situations - such as weddings! I feel like travel and sports teaches you how to anticipate a moment before it happens, and that has been the best teacher... and also Youtube University!🤘But it all started with the GoPro college days filming hockey practice shenanigans, snowboarding trips, and a burning desire to preserve the human experience! 🙌 2️⃣ What is your filming style: Simply put, candid and cinematic 🎥 that means that i’m there to witness your most joyous moments, to capture them authentically without interruption. I film all weddings with 4 cams.
