The wood has been taken to the recycle centre, and we took a huge delivery at the weekend of new timbers. The sides will be removed and extended back and we can start to get the supports in now and the new ground framing. I recently was asked to do a custom soap order using breastmilk. The nutrients in motherโs milk (aka liquid gold) are good for the babeโs skin and make bath time even more special. It was an honorable experience and upped my soap-making game. The event even allowed me to revise the Ya Gotta See the Baby recipe, which now includes goatโs milk to make the bar creamier and dreamier. Message the shop for custom soap orders. I've been in a committed, monogamous relationship with Trader Joe's for several years now, and we are only occasionally ENM with the food section at Target or with normal grocery stores for store cake and frozen burritos/taquitos. Mostly it's because I hate large grocery stores, but also because I cannot be trusted around name-brands. I've had to go to Target several times lately to prep for my holiday party, and my home now contains Cheezits, Reese's Pieces, and Sunny D. I made one ice tray of the D so that I can consume it primarily in highly watered down rations, but I treated myself to a lil cocktail tonight, too, of course. Marathon cookies and Build-a-Bar Wow, it has been a long time since I posted. This is definitely a #latergram because I made the marathon cookies for the marathon weekend the first weekend of October and the Build a Bar were made for a neighbors cabin weekend the 2nd weekend of October. But this is life. I never set a timeline to finish all the bakes. But I have so few left that if I am diligent, I could finish by the end of the year. The Build a Bar recipe included coconut, butterscotch, toffee and chopped almonds. It was a great combination. The marathon cookies included protein powder, chopped walnuts, Craisins and chocolate chips. A short load bay means we could only go for shorter worktops, and that inevitably meant our colour choice was limited to white, white or white. Building the Hidden Cove Part 3 - Side panels and fit testing A bar is no good if it doesn't stand. This week we added the folding legs to the two outside panels. This means that they can be folded flat for transport, but are sturdy enough to support the bar when in the small or large configurations. Once complete we needed to make sure that all the sections still fit together and, more importantly, were level. Building the Hidden Cove Part 2 - Sanding, sticking and painting Once we had the pattern cut and sorted it was time to sand everything and glue the pallet wood to the base. Then it was down to painting the centre panel with chalkboard paint and staining the pallet wood with high protection varnish. Building the Hidden Cove Part 1 - Pallets, pallets and more pallets. It's been quiet over here recently, but we've been busy behind the scenes building the Hidden Cove pop-up bar. It's still a work-in-progress, but I thought it was time to put up some updates - I've split the build process into chunks to keep it neat.
