80s Goodness:) 1986 Mazda 323 BF Sedan - You may remember that I posted this same BF a few weeks ago. Well. I finally saw it again and over the past few years it's received a couple changes, most notably it has a facelift front bumper (which looks 100% better) and a GTX rear bumper. It also has had the gauges swapped to ones that came standard with a rev counter, (which I wish I could do in my wagon)which. Tiny Rarity:) Mazda Carol P600 - This might just be one of the rarest cars I've ever posted. Few countries outside Japan received the 1st Generation Carol, and I believe Malta might have been the only recipient in Europe. Three of these little gems were delivered new here. Two two-door models, and this four-door. This is the sole survivor and it's safe to say that it's found a good home. SNSTR:) 1969 Chevrolet Camaro - By this point, most first-generation Camaros here in Malta are either pristine original examples (which I very much like), or stupidly customised with giant wheels and extra wheels. This example is very far from stock however, it looks to have been this way for a long time, as it is in the style of 'Street' drag cars from the '80s and '90s, when Camaros were still plentiful. Unfortunately, at least here in Malta the Camaro is overshadowed by the Mustang, so seeing one in an '80s Street car' style was an absolute treat for me. Too Cool:) Mazda 818 Wagon (Pre-facelift) - I've wanted to see this thing in the flesh for a long time now. There are still a few 818s left on the island, and a good portion of these are wagons, but I doubt any are as original and unmolested as this one. It had 1 owner till about 2017 when a local Mazda madman bought it and added it to his sizable collection. I also took a few pictures of said collection last Sunday, so expect those to get a separate post later this week. Anyway, moving back to the 818, it still has all its factory stickers, which is amazing for a car from the 70s, but it has had a sheltered life to be fair with only 40,000 miles put on it. Like most Mazda colours of the 70s and 80s, this yellow looks stunning (no bias here promise) and has held up well. This particular 626 had its original 1.8 engine taken out of it, sometime in the late 90s or early 00s and a 2.0L Toyota diesel was put in it. S-Chassis perfection:) Nissan Silvia S14 K's (Kouki) - I make no secret that I absolutely adore all S-Chassis'. They are basically forbidden fruit here with how rare they are. Very Brown, and very cool:) Ford Cortina MKIII 2.0L GXL - This thing takes 70s cool to a whole new level. The wheels, stance, and vinyl roof scream of the late 70s and early 80s car culture. Now of course, if it was modified in period here in Malta it would have probably had its front bumper taken off and side pipes added, but thankfully it wasn't. Minty Survivor:) Honda Civic 3rd Gen - It was certainly a surprise seeing a 3rd Generation Civic last Sunday. They have all but disappeared from Maltese roads with maybe about 10 left which is in stark contrast to the 4th gen which especially in sedan form can still be found in regular use. Twincam Goodness:) Alfa Romeo Alfetta Berlina 1.8 - The Alfetta has always been a favourite of mine, like all of Alfa's rear wheel drive sedans. This particular example has had some tasteful mods done to it (at least in my eyes), with a black bonnet similar to the Turbodelta GTV, darker painted alloys, as well as the removal of one headlight for an air duct, to feed the glorious Weber Carburettors. Being a South African Car this might be a 2.0L instead of the 1.8L I am assuming it is, as they had the bigger engine before the 1977 facelift, unlike Europe. Rough Diamond:) Toyota Celica A40 Liftback - This might be one of the best and most random street spots I've ever encountered. The 2nd Gen Celica, especially in Liftback form is a beautiful car and perfectly embodies the design language of the late 1970s. This particular example is an early European model as I believe only the first two years had the side pillars in polished metal with the liftback logo. Here's an entry for #wannabesuvweek, which is an archetype of an ordinary hatch with some half-hearted 4x4 styling efforts; that is, matt plastic cladding and some roof rails. It is badged as a Toyota Voltz, a rebadged Pontiac Vibe (so tick the silly 'lifestyle' name box too), and has nothing exceptional in its engineering.
