But if we said “here’s one you can eat until your hearts content… just leave the rest alone” you’d have a much easier time doing it because you’re able to scratch that urge! 3. While your cats are still learning not to play with your plants, make sure you keep them out of reach when you’re not away. Otherwise all your training is pointless. 4. Something that helped us train them was redirecting them when they would start to look interested in a plant. This can be done with their favorite toy, treats, or affection! Just be careful to not let it get to a point where your cat thinks they have to play with the plant to get your attention. 5. We use one of these air canisters to prevent the cats from climbing on top of Goji’s enclosure and it works like a CHARM. It could definitely work for plants too. The funny thing is, ours has been empty for over 3 months but the cats have no interest in even attempting to climb up there anymore. For #NationalPetParentsDay I bring you the 3 pets I’ve had the pleasure of parenting in adulthood. Given the photos are from the mid-90s onwards, the crispness of the images varies, but I thought they were still worth sharing as they show pet love over time. 🐈⬛ Camille: A gorgeous cat I’d known for years, but who came to live with me as a older feline, when my friend said Camille wasn’t getting along with new kittens in the household. During my 20s, she was a loving companion. She was also the first pet I had to euthanise due to old age. I can still vividly recall the vet room where it happened, and how I sat in my car afterwards, crying for ages. She always amazed me in her ability to climb up to high places and she LOVED it when I shook a stick with shiny streamers on the end at her (2nd photo) 🌈 🐕 Ramsey: The first fur-baby I had virtually since birth (8 weeks onwards). As a puppy in the late noughties, he used to sleep under my desk on days I worked from home. I always thought he looked SO cute in his “desk cave”. A lover of balls, balloons, galaktoboureko and water (puddles, lakes, rivers & seas - all of it!), he brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. His death shook me even harder than Camille's, so hard I’ve ended up incorporating it into my Secrets of the Spitz series as a way of processing the grief .🌈 🐶 Bijou: Ramsey’s younger brother. A naughty little dog, but so cheerful you can forgive him practically everything. He’s my main canine muse for Secrets of the Spitz. I don’t know how I’ll cope when the inevitable day comes and Bijou crosses the rainbow bridge too. Given he just turned 13, I know it’s coming, and possibly soon. My sweet little snuggly baby, last night he just wanted cuddles. Unfortunately I had to move him, I keep telling him mommy is getting the doctor to help her soon so I don’t have to make so many trip to the restroom. Oh it’s been a right day today at Tithe Farm Zoo! Goose has been sick twice, done a soft poo that she proceeded to walk around with on her paw so I had to chase her with a wet wipe, she escaped onto the roof earlier and I spent 20 minutes trying to retrieve her, and to top it all off she’s not a fan of the new wet food I bought her so she’s on hunger strike🙃 Having a kitten is literally almost like having a child, I swear! At least babies stay where you put them and go toilet in a nappy.
