It’s laughable that only after Anna discovers being called out as a con artist, a page on her website of charities she’s promoted is created. It’s pathetically vague and worthless proof she donated any amount over $10. She can easily prove how much $ was donated but chooses not to. Almost all of the charities mentioned have an online fundraiser system to track donations made in real-time. This discloses the charitable amount to allow companies not only to showcase their generosity, but also to demonstrate their accountability to the public. Alex’s lemonade received Anna’s a donation after this IG account exposed her truth. And considering that 100% of the proceeds was said to be donated from the Lemonade Hugs Dress for more than 2 years, it would be a sizable amount of money that was donated. However, because of her financial mismanagement, she the amount wouldn’t reflect such generosity. TIPS FOR CONSUMERS: Look for specific donation amounts when choosing to buy from a cause marketing campaign. You should be able to easily identify how much the charity will receive from your purchase. Watch out for products that use vague terms like "profits" or "proceeds" to describe the charitable benefit. Good cause marketing will disclose a specific dollar amount or a percentage of the retail price that will be donated to charity. Check if the campaign has ended. Cause marketing campaigns usually have a time limit. Check to see if one is mentioned and whether or not it has expired. Established in 2012, Charlie’s Project was created by Anna Kozaczka Hernandez, mom of Charlie. Charlie was born with Down syndrome and later diagnosed with autism. The Charlie’s Project line was created with the goal of bringing awareness to down syndrome, autism, and other causes, while providing comfortable clothing options. Anna has promoted that her company, Charlie’s Project, donates 20% of all profits to select charities, a portion of the proceeds from the Kids Hugs Collection sponsors the education of Haitian children through the Tree of Hope Haiti, and 100% of the proceeds from any awareness products are donated to charities. Sounds like a wholesome business with ethical and moral values, right? Unfortunately, the company has not been actively donating to charities as they proclaim and has recently filed for bankruptcy this year, February 2020. Anna has also provided little or no proof at all that they continue to donate money to a large majority of the charities and fundraisers they promote. Using a global pandemic to collect donations for KN95 masks and keeping the funds is deplorable. Keep in mind that Anna Hernandez Kozaczka filed for bankruptcy a month prior, February 2020. There is absolutely no proof of the 30,000 masks ever being donated as she stated. For someone who promotes doing charitable deeds on all their products and social media, then why wouldn’t she have used her good deed to her advantage and share this accomplishment? Even the hospital that she said to have received the masks made no mentions or thank you for such a very generous donation during a global pandemic to save lives at the frontlines.
