Days 8 and 9 - #Suncheon #순천 Decided to get out of the usual tourist spots and head to a little countryside town. After arriving and dropping off my bags, I headed to the #suncheondramaset. The whole area was divided into three main parts, the 1950s, 1960s and a shanty town of the 1970s. Many kdramas were filmed here and it was fun to be able to explore the old buildings. There was even a cinema and an old disco with retro music. The bus frequency in Suncheon was understandably not as regular as in Seoul or Busan. On Day 2, I planned to visit Seonamsa and the #naganeupseong folk village, but after missing the bus (which runs only 3 times a day) I had to drop Seonamsa 😔 I visited the #suncheonbay. The #reedfields were beautiful and there were a lot of spots for bird-watching. I hiked up to the observation deck. The view was gorgeous. It was super windy and cold (and I somehow chose that day to leave my jacket in the Airbnb) so I was totally freezing 🥶 was hoping to visit the national garden as well, but it had closed on 6th Nov and would only reopen in the spring. Oh well more reason to come back! After Suncheon Bay, I intended to go to the #folkvillage, but of course my lack of planning and the irregular buses meant I had a 2-h wait before the next bus at 4 pm! By the time I got to the village it was almost 5 pm, and the sun was about to set. The houses looked really pretty in the sunset, and I was surprised to see that people still lived in those houses. Too bad I arrived too late and couldn't participate in some of the traditional activities they usually have going on. By the time I finished wandering around the village and the #fortress, it was already quite dark and very cold! And then... The year of the Tiger is starting. So I'll share some of the tigers I have come across in Korea over the years. None were alive 😉 but the last few in the wild were killed about 100 years ago ( although there are rumors there may be some in remote parts of North Korea). But tigers play a big role in folklore and are also frequently found in Buddhist temples, so I have plenty of fotos to choose from. Scarf no 55, the first of several from #chirisan . The national park straddles three provinces, so #chollanamdo comes first , in line with the western aspect of the map on the scarf. I am not a big fan of running up and down a steep mountain, so have not made it to the highest point on the mainland of South Korea, Cheonwangbong, yet. This is the starting point of the Baekdudaegan and the three day hike to Nogodan is highly popular, so it is very difficult to book a space in the shelters.... #hwaeomsa is one of the main temples in the foothills with a beautiful three story hall from the 17th century. #piagol valley is another approach to the main ridge and very beautiful during autumn #danpung . The #seomjinriver flows at the western edge and #maehwamaeul is famous for its plum blossom 🌸 early in Spring. Scarf no 54 displays Osan in #gurye . At the top are several Buddha carvings and halls at #saseongam . There are great views down to Gurye and up and down the #seomjinriver . In the second picture, you can see the curvy road leading up to the hermitage. A few years ago, a shuttle bus would make the rather terrifying trip. Hiking up is a safer option... The halls of the hermitage seem to float and stick like nests to the mountain. Scarf no 53 is another #yeosu one. At the southern tip of #dolsando are Gumosan and #hyangilam . The hermitage offers great views across the southern sea and is a popular spot to watch the sunrise. It is built on a rock shaped like a turtle, so many smaller stone turtles can be found. The way up leads through two narrow natural tunnels. From the hermitage, one can climb further to Gumosan and along the ridge north. Scarf no 52 is another pastel- coloured one, from #yeosu . It was printed before the 2012 Expo and before the new bridge to #dolsando was completed. The map shows the islands close to Yeosu which are part of the #hallyohaesangnationalpark , another maritime national park. The islands offer great hiking opportunities. Yeosu is also famous as a naval post during the Imjin Wars in the 16th century. General Yi Sushin had his headquarters at #jinnamgwan. The photo shows the view from the hall to the port, including a turtle ship, and #dolsanbridge. The last two photos show the new bridge. Scarf no 50 takes us to #chogyesan provincial park. The most popular hiking routes connect the two temples, #songgwangsa and #seonamsa . The view from the mountain was not very clear during my hike, you can just about spot Seonamsa in the valley. Seonamsa is famous for the view of the pavillion under the bridge, as featured on the scarf's lower right corner. Songgwangsa is one of the three temples in Korea hosting important relics. Compared with Haeinsa and Tongdosa, this is the least welcoming of the three temples. After the 80 minute bus ride from #suncheon it is frustrating to find the museum and most halls closed. The most famous photo op is the entry bridge to the main temple compound, as in the top left corner of the scarf. Scarf no 49, #duryunsan again. The peaks can easily reached by cable car, although it is a hike to the actual main peak from the top of the cable car. On a clear day, you can see Jejudo in the distance, but even without that, the views are great. A visit during autumn with the colourful leaves is really nice ( if a little crowded in the cable car). Scarf no 46 is from a small mountain, #bulgapsan . It rises to only 516m but is in the relatively flat part of #chollanamdo . The story goes that the Cholla provinces are flat to balance out the mountains in eastern Korea, but the areas is not as flat as this suggests. As you can see, the mountain even has a 'danger trail' (taken by most hikers). Bulgapsan is famous for the magic lilies or perennial lilies that flower there in abundance in September. Very popular #bulgapsamagiclilyfestival . Very pretty but the crowds, all pushing to get in place for the best selfie... Due to its popularity, it was designated as provincial park in 2019. Scarf no 43: #wolchulsannationalpark . one of the smaller national parks, it is famous for its cloud bridge (120 m above ground). It is easily reachable from Gwangju and can be traversed in one day. Like many of the southern mountains, it has steep rocks. This also means steep inclines to hike through and many stairs. The views across southern Chollanamdo are a great reward. With scarf no 42, we are entering #chollanamdo . #naejangsannationalpark covers two provinces and the pictures are from #Baeknyangsa in the southern part. Rbe scarf's design reflects the famous autumn leaves when it is a very popular spot to visit. Special trains run from Seoul in season but it is also connected to Gwangju by country and intercity buses. So I had the chance to visit often and the pictures show the temple during autumn as well as winter. За тем мы отправились в город Мокпхо, где покатались на самой длинной (3,23 км) в Корее морской канатной дороге🚠, которая открылась в октябре этого года. Фуникулеры отправляются ко второй по высоте башне в мире и обратно, в течение 40 минут можно наслаждаться захватывающими пейзажами с высоты птичьего полета. 🕊Маршрут начинается от порта Пукхан в городе Мокпхо и, минуя горы Удальсан⛰, завершается на острове Коха-до. ⠀ Мы взяли кабинку «Кристалл» со стеклянным полом🤪 когда поднимались туда, было ещё светло, а на обратном пути солнце уже село🌜(и от кабинки 🚠 кристалл особого толку уже не было), за то мы смогли насладиться ночными видами Мокпхо😍 ⠀ #южнаякорея#корея #korea #mokpo #chollanamdo#чолланамдо#мокпо#путешествие#отпуск #trevel

В Корее 🇰🇷 хьюга бывает в самые жаркие дни лета, около 5 дней, дают всем отпуск, из-за высокой жары☀️ ⠀ Мы отправились в провинцию Чолла-намдо в юго-западной части Корейского полуострова, является идеальным местом для туристов, желающих открыть Корею с необычной стороны и посетить, возможно, не самые популярные места, однако все равно потрясающие. ⠀ Одним из первых мест стал гостевой дом 🏯Кымсонгван, в городе Начжу. Кымсонгван был построен близ здания местного органа государственного управления и в период династий Чосон и Корё служил резиденцией местных властей в Начжу-мок (древнее административное деление, включающее в себя город Начжу и уезд Начжу-гун). ⠀ Вторым местом стал единственный в Корее Музей природных красителей 🎨. С древних времен в этом регионе развивается искусство шелкового ткачества и окрашивания листьями горца красильного (китайское индиго).
