Established in 68 AD at the time of the Eastern Han dynasty, White Horse Temple was the first Buddhist temple in China. Vietnam trip - Day 8 - Da Nang An 11-hour journey on an overnight train brought us to Da Nang. Sam Poh Tong is probably my favourite of the four cave temples we visited in Ipoh. The Buddhist temple has a beautiful fish pond with pagodas in the front entrance, and when you go through the cave you end up in a "back garden" with a turtle pond and this amazing hidden extra temple that could TOTALLY be something out of an Indiana Jones movie! The Jade Buddha Temple is a Buddhist temple in Shanghai. In 1882, a temple was built to keep two jade Buddha statues which had been brought from Burma by a monk. The temple was destroyed during the revolution that ended the Qing Dynasty. Such a tranquil and exquisite visit to the Tsz Shan Monastery in Hong Kong. This Buddhist temple is a beautiful and peaceful space, surrounded by stunning views for miles around. This offers an overwhelming sense of calmness as you walk around. Please note; if your wearing shorts, like me and bon were🫠. The temple offer free clothing to cover up for respect, hence why we ended up in these ravishing robes. I think the hubby pulls of a skirt quite well...don't you? 🤣 It wasn't the most exciting place to take the kids, but the beautiful grounds allowed them space to run around and use up some energy, and this included a treasure hunt to keep the kids engaged as we explored the Temple. Plus there is a nice cafe on site for refreshments if required. I will be spending a lot of time and energy introducing my journey so far but here is an initial stream of consciousness and expression of my ideas for this journey... It has been a dream of mine for a very long time to visit a Buddhist temple and experience first-hand what a place of pure spiritualism, altruism and compassion feels like. For several years I have been working on my understanding and practice of Buddhism and how to remove myself from cyclical existence. My intentions have not always been entirely pure as my journey begun with the desire to heal and grow, however after visiting Brahmavihara-Arama in Indonesia I have become more enlightened in the true path that Buddhism will take me upon. I am forever changing, growing and learning, this page will hold me accountable, motivated and inspired in continuing my path to enlightenment and continuously practising the art of happiness. I look forward to sharing my journey and doing my best to support those on a similar path, or those who are simply in need of a greater understanding of wellness and mindfulness. I will be sharing moments of gratitude, techniques for supporting wellbeing and finding calm, my learning of Buddhist practice and all things wellbeing. For now, I will leave you with this: 'I am spending my life as a full-fledged follower of Buddha. May I remove the three poisons of lust, hatred, and ignorance! Destructive emotions, of course, will arise, but I will not voluntarily rush into them. Today I will do whatever I can to read texts, reflect on their meaning, and work at developing wisdom. I will also do whatever I can to generate the altruistic intention to become enlightened and implement compassion in my behavior.
