Some additional photos from Friday's Shaky Knees. Other than Switchfoot I didn't really feel the emotional energy required to be in the crowd for most of the other bands, and I'm glad the Switchfam I was with felt the same way. I had #girlmath my way into justifying this trip to Atlanta to see Switchfoot by figuring out it was cheaper to see Noah Kahan at Shaky Knees, even when you consider airfare, hotels, food and tickets to the festival than it would be to see him at Deer Creek (a 30 minute drive from my house). That show sold out instantly and the resale tickets were over $1000 when I booked this trip! It was fun! I'm exhausted! Shaky Knees had a great lineup for Friday, but I made the trip for Switchfoot. I had never seen them at a festival before, even though Friday was my 34th time seeing them live. I figured a lot of the elements that I love about seeing Switchfoot live would be missing, like random wildcard songs, Jon's banter with the crowd, etc. There weren't any wildcard songs, but Jon still found ways to connect with his fans, and the sun setting while they were on stage gave me some great dynamic lighting to play with! My only wish is that the band would have done one more song. They still had 7 minutes left of their set time remaining when they left the stage. I know festivals are strict with their time requirements and I'm sure the band didn't want to risk going over. Another first for me: this may be the first time I've seen the band stick to their setlist! "I never said this trip to Atlanta was Chad's fault, just that I was going to blame him!" The story there is that I was watching one of Jon's aftershows on Instagram live and Chad joined the stream about the exact same moment Josh's phone died. I said hi to Chad and then asked if I could get tour dates, which I did not get, but instead I figured out the details to get me to Atlanta for the show in Hell and the Shaky Knees Festival this weekend. I'm so glad I did! I really shouldn't blame Chad! I should definitely thank him! The show in Hell is definitely one of my favorites! 26.4.2024 - Hamburg . Ein weiteres Konzert der Versengold-Jungs stand gestern auf dem Plan. Es war mein Geburtstagsgeschenk deswegen habe ich mich nochmal extra viel darauf gefreut. . Die Anreise war ungelogen der Horror...aber alle Strapazen waren vergessen als wir in der Halle standen und dank unseren Freunden trotzdem einen richtig tollen Platz hatten! . Es war das vierte Konzert der Jungs auf dem ich gewesen bin und ich kann nur immer wieder sagen, dass ich jedes Mal fasziniert von der Atmosphäre bin, ich habe das Gefühl das egal wo man steht oder sitzt jeder Party macht und eine gute Zeit hat...das ist etwas was mir auf Konzerten immer besonders wichtig ist und bis jetzt wurde ich noch nie enttäuscht! . Die Jungs haben die Klassiker aber auch Songs ihres neusten Albums gesungen. Die Stimmung war wie gesagt unfassbar gut. Auf der Bühne und "unten" bei uns und auf der Tribüne wurde gleichermaßen gerockt! . Yes, I'm very behind on my concert posts. Moving on. April 21st was my first time seeing BoyWithUke! There were a lot more kids in the audience than I think I've ever seen in the Egyptian Room. Also I have to give full respect to both BoyWithUke and his crew! Two songs into his set the microphone system went dead. He was explaining how his real microphone is in his mask and the one he holds is just a prop when everything went dead. I figured it was part of the show and that he would unmask himself and go on. But instead it took over 20 minutes to get everything working again and BoyWithUke started putting autographs on anything people would hand him. I literally saw him sign a shoe! I finally made it to a gig of @ben_granfelt_official! I heard many great things about his playing before, but somehow no date of his 60th Anniversary tour last year fit my schedule, which was very full at the time. This time he was playing at the beautiful @glivelabhelsinki at the one free evening during my short stay in Helsinki. I finished my work at the lab just in time to arrive at the club when the doors opened. It sure was a long working day, but the gig truly made up for it. I didn't listen to any of his music beforehand and was honestly blown away by his playing. I think I've never seen anybody play an electric guitar without a plec like this before!
