To put it into perspective you would ideally see this at idle and very light throttle not loaded up The result of running like this will be poor running, excessive cylinder temperatures and EGTs, detting and burning of exhaust valves. And this is with an ecu upgrade that's deemed acceptable to use by many Imagine the damage being done when people just fit parts and don't even adress the ECU and lack of fuelling. Very special (to me) FN2 with less that 60K on the clock owned by Chris in today for a full major service. This was THE very first Type R I ever turned a spanner on 11+ years ago when I first started out doing trial days at TDI and the car that started it all for me. But not only that, it was also one of the cars that became well linked to TDI north back in the day, running a full turbo kit, built motor among other things. Its a tamer version of itself now, no longer with the private plate that became well known in the community and considerably less horsepower but there's still subtle clues to its past life if you know where to look😉. Last up today.... "Batman's EP3" 👀😎😄 Stuarts EP3 he will be running this year in Time Attack in for mapping on Haltech. Cars been mapped previously but had a few issues so booked in with the lads at Motion for setup help then onto us for mapping. Picked up bit more everywhere with lowered vtec and limiter increased slightly. Cars pulling better through the revs now and a lot more responsive showing its not all about the full throttle power curves. Another Racer in for mapping today. This time I was turning down...👀 Getting it within power to weight for class on this immaculate FL EP3. It's a pretty hard task bringing usable power down and in this case was nearly 20bhp we had to dump but achieved by some nifty VTC manipulation I'm able to hit peak power nice and early then flatten the power curve so it's holding flat from 6500rpm all the way to the limiter. Next up... and 2nd attempt after visiting us last week for mapping but we was unable to complete it due to engine problems we diagnosed as a sickly vtc solenoid and tps sensor.... as well as a ridiculously loud M2 Hornet exhaust that managed to upset all the neighbours we had another bash at it today. The owner went to work on it over the weekend, sorting out everything we highlighted, and today was rewarded with a totally transformed car. First job was for Kieren to swap the exhaust for a Tegiwa one and then replace and rebuild the Calipers then it was onto the dyno. The customer opted for a new LinkG4X K20 ECU and together with the great spec of a K20A JDM engine coupled with a Tegiwa intake, Skunk2 Ultra intake manifold and Tegiwa manifold and exhaust we managed to hit 260bhp and totally transformed it.
