So let’s get the excuses out of the way first, this was my first time at brands and I went straight in at qualifying, it was my first race weekend, the rain was coming down sideways and I had a severe case of tonsillitis, so bad I nearly admitted myself into hospital and didn’t attend the race weekend. But…. What an experience it was! I took it in my stride and kept reserved trying to concentrate on the job in hand. My goal was to finish both races in one piece and enjoy it. Qualifying was daunting, trying to keep myself to myself and not get in the way of the other competitors. We had an abundance of yellow flags as cars span off everywhere and I didn’t manage to get a clean lap in and still managed to qualify 24th of 30 entries, quietly happy with the feeling of the car in the wet on a dry setup. Race 1 was on a wet but drying track and came and went in a heart beat, falling back a few places initially but managed a few good manoeuvres round the outside and despite a little tap with a mk3 closing the door I made it home in 21st and my fastest lap securing P18 for race 2. Race 2 was dry and for the first time I could build some confidence on explore the cars limits. Again initially dropping a few places off the line I managed to make up the lost positions in the race, then found myself in no man’s land, faster than the people behind but only matching the guys in front and not making any progress. P18 is where I finished and the secret target for the weekend was to finish in the top 20, goal achieved! All in all it was a hugely rewarding weekend and now a few days have passed I can’t believe I haven’t done this sooner, I urge anyone out there that has ever wanted to race to do it! The little boy from Northern Ireland that grew up in Yorkshire watching F1 all his life has achieved that boyhood dream! Silverstone in a few weeks time, another first at a circuit but prep starts this weekend to make sure the car is ready. Formula 270 Round 4✅ Mixed bag on this one… Went out for qualifying and managed 3rd which wasn’t bad. Went out for heat 1 and had an alright start maintaing position but as i went into turn 3 i got pushed wide and lost 2 positions which was frustrating. Then as i progressed further i to the race I realised my engine was very slow and I had horrid top end so I couldn’t overtake on the straight meaning I finished 5th Heat 2 was reverse grid so i started 5th. However i got crashed into by someone else which meant i was 9th. I then made my way up the grid back up to 5th as I had a decent kart which actually had good top end. This meant my average position was 5th for heat 3 which meant I started 5th. Once again luck wasn’t on my side and I had a dog kart that had no top end which was proved by the driver behind me who was. bumping me down the straights which actually helped me slightly to have better top end. Not the day we wanted on the dyno! With the car going up there not running at all, Dave at MEK motorsport got the car running and idling nicely ready for mapping! Got halfway through the mapping session and the gearbox decided it wanted to become a rattle toy! DSP Season 2 - Round 1 Heat 1 - P7 Tricky conditions this week, track was greasy to start the day. Heat 1 was a good start to the day, started around P13 and finished P7. Heat 2 - P13 Started near the front for Heat 2, probably around P6. Lots of contact in lap 1 dropped me down the order And i was never able to recover. Final - P13 The final was almost a carbon copy to Heat 2, started in the top half and dropped down in lap 1. Truthfully never had the pace in the final and that cost me. Round 1 was meh but compared to wet rounds from season 1 I feel I have improved. Lots of work to go and lots to improve on still. Very hungry to get better and better. Late post😶 Youngstarz Round 7✅ A round to forget to say the least… The video is from the final Still a sprint format this time, now with an A final for top 5 in the first 2 heats and B final for the bottom 5 of the first 2 heats. Karts were also swapped for every heat. Went out for qualifying and I could already feel the lack of straight line speed as I was doing my lap. Managed to qualify 5th for heat 1 which wasn’t too bad considering my average speed on straights was 38mph compared to 40mph for everyone else… Onto heat 1 and i held postion flr the whole race trying to overtake @ciaran_d0wling but no speed on straights😐. Then it was heat 2 and I had a monster kart with amazing straight line speed which meant i gained 3 postions and finished 3rd in my heat with fastest lap which proves a lot.. This meant i qualified for the A final . Now onto heat 3 and this is where it all goes downhill. I started 6th and had an alright start, holding position. Then however, in the following laps I was loosing so much time to the rest of the drivers and it was on the straights☹️. Every lap I lost a position, one by one because of the appalling speed of my engine. This meant I finished 9th and second last overall. A round to forget like I said. This is what happened yesterday during the formation lap. A kart collected & mounted the back of Ethans kart, breaking his rear disk. Ethan felt the impact but thought it had just been with his rear bumper. Unaware, he's accelerated onto the main straight, then coming into the first corner, he's gone to apply the brakes, but with no brake disc they have failed!!!! Ethan was super quick to respond, steering into the slide, scrubbing off as much speed as possible before hitting the tyre wall. The main thing is he's absolutely fine. He actually wanted to go straight back out, but unfortunately, too many things needed to be checked and replaced. So, time for some rest, whilst the Kart is race pre-pared. We're going to Forest Edge next weekend to check a few things out, but we'll come back stronger. #karting #kartinglife @ethan_b_racing #demontweeks

FAILED BRAKES + 50MPH AT THE FIRST CORNER = 💥 Not the end I’d hoped for, especially after doing so well in the Heat - making up ⬆️ 9 positions and enjoying a great battle right to the chequered flag. In the Pre Final, someone mounted my back axle and broke my brake disk…they almost flipped and I had no idea what happened until it was too late, I had no brakes and I was in the barrier. British Champs Round 1 ✅ A roller coaster of a weekend completed at PFI 🎢. Great pace through all the practice sessions but qualifying didn’t quite go to plan unfortunately. An unfortunate DNF in the first heat then resulted in me starting the repechage in 11th which we finished in a comfortable 2nd place with the top 6 qualifying. I made good progress in the pre final and then in the final I made my way up the order finishing in a decent 10th place after starting outside the top 20. FULBECK SPRINT SERIES ROUND 3 BOUNCING BACK (ALMOST) Qualifying: P1 🥇 Heat 1: P1 ➡️ P2 🥈 I made a decent start however Harry quickly overtook me on lap 1 and started to pull away however I had the pace to hold onto P2 at the chequered flag. Heat 2: P2 ➡️ P8 Not the best of starts, getting hit off at the second chicane on lap 1, I was determined to catch back up to the pack, closing down a 5-second gap in 8 laps! Hunting down 7th but weren’t close enough through the final corner to out-drag them to the line Final: P2 ➡️ P6 OTR Shuffled wide in turn 1 and got caught on top of someone's rear bumper causing me to lose a lot of positions. When making an overtake for 5th, the other driver thought it would be a good idea to turn in while being completely alongside causing us both to go off into the gravel. The damage resulted in one of my nose cone blocks breaking causing it to drop, resulting in a penalty. Championship Standing: P8 (P5 inc Drops) Not the result I wanted after a promising start to the day, however, the pace is there to be at the front and fight for the championship.
