"Oh little girl, you're now capable of dreaming, One baby step at a time in making"💐 When the new year arrived, I had a concrete wish to get my work published this year. And within months this dream has come true. As a child, I used to dream about watching my name in print. The journey from publishing poems in school and college magazines to becoming a part of an anthology was surreal. The process, however, was far from the fairytale. Nevertheless, I got a glimpse into how the publishing system works and feel honoured to share space with many talented and experienced poets. Achievements are fruitless without people who enjoy your success, and I'm blessed immensely to have wonderful souls as my family and friends for encouraging me throughout. I'd especially like to thank @shonali_1309, the editor and compiler of @ara.nyani for giving me this wonderful opportunity. Aranyani is an Ecofeminist Poetry Book, perhaps the first poetry book dedicated to this topic in India, which talks about women and nature and their mystical connection through the deity of forests, Devi Aranyani. However, this book offers much more than that, diving into the daily lives of tribal women, and how rapid development harms our nature, all said through beautiful poems. It was published on 14th February, the auspicious day of Vasant Panchami. Despite her age, Sophie's dedication and hard work have made a significant impact on our conservation efforts. 💼 Next, we have Lianna, who has been a part of our team since May 2018. As a multilingual receptionist and guide, Lianna's language skills have been invaluable in welcoming and assisting our Chinese visitors, enhancing their experience at the Wetlands. 🌱 Marion, with her background in plant nursery, tends to our plants and even the possum living in the bird box! Her love for plants and dedication to nurturing them has made our entryway a vibrant and welcoming space. 🌳 Ingrid, Tarika, and Nell are the green thumbs behind our Plant Nursery, where they tirelessly nurture the thousands of trees we've planted. Tarika, our newest recruit, has already embraced her role with enthusiasm, contributing to our growing green family. 🦎 And let's not forget Annette and Michele, our new recruits in the Animal House! Despite the learning curve of working with reptiles, these women have embraced the challenge with passion and enthusiasm. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a plastic. PVA is used in wrapping of laundry and dishwasher pods, and even woven into laundry detergent sheets. While PVA does dissolve, it doesn’t always biodegrade, meaning is it returning plastic into our waterways and soil. There isn't much research or studies on PVA yet, but for right now to continue being a safe and trusted resource, we are more comfortable offering completely plastic-free alternatives such as refillable liquid laundry detergent and strong and effective laundry powder, instead of the convenience of laundry sheets.

Celebrating success in sustainable farming!! Over the past year, Balangir Forest Division provided vermicompost units to WSHG members and women farmers in different FMUs. The WSHG members in Belpada, Sinapala, and Parsukana produced 460 quintals of vermicompost, benefiting areas like Bangomunda, Titilagarh, and Saintala. Additionally, in collaboration with Mission Shakti and other stakeholders, more than 1500 quintals of vermicompost were generated in the forest fringe villages. Additional support is being provided to pack the vermicompost with the brand name "Go-dhana". The vermicompost is also being procured by the Balangir Forest Division for nurseries in all ranges. Kudos to these dedicated women for contributing to sustainable agriculture and livelihood enhancement!!
