🇺🇸 INDY NXT - Winner: JACOB ABEL 🇺🇸 - At Barber Motorsports Park, Jacob Abel claimed pole position by 0.2339 seconds ahead of Nolan Siegel, who won the opening round 👀 - Jamie Chadwick took her best qualifying result, P5. In the race, Abel and Siegel quickly pulled clear of the rest of the field whilst James Roe Jr. held P3 ahead of Caio Collet❗️ - Abel's lead was reduced to nothing when a caution period occurred, due to Yuven Sundaramoorthy stopping on track. The leaders held station at the restart ➡️ - Roe briefly joined the lead battle, but was soon defending from Collet. Louis Foster, who had started in P21 and last place, had made it up to P12 before the caution period 💪 - At one stage, Siegel was able to come close to passing Abel but the leader held firm and stayed ahead. Further back, Bryce Aron led Chadwick, Myles Rowe and Foster in a battle over P5 🎯 - Late on, Chadwick lost the chance to take her best ever Indy NXT result when she went off the road at Turn 1 and got stranded in the gravel, whilst in pursuit of Aron ❌️ - In the end, Abel held on to claim his and the team's first ever series victory to go joint-top of the leaderboard with Siegel, who claimed a P2 finish. 🇬🇧 GB4 - Race 1 & Race 2 winner: LINUS GRANFORS 🇸🇪 - At Silverstone, Finn Harrison claimed both pole pistons as Linus Granfors lined up in P2 for Race 1 and Leon Wilson took P2 for Race 2 👀 - In Race 1, Harrison led Granfors at the start whilst Harry Burgoyne Jr. went from P7 to P4, behind Wilson. Alisha Palmowski then passed Burgoyne and Wilson in the space of 2 corners, to take P4 ⬆️ - Harrison and Granfors began to battle, which brought Palmowski closer to them. Granfors eventually took the lead at Maggotts, with Palmowski taking P2 from Harrison shortly afterwards 💯 - Once out in front, Granfors pulled away whilst Palmowski was comfortable in P2. Marcus Luzio, who started in P11, had charged forward to challenge Harrison for P3 late in the race 🔥 - Granfors went on to win by 7.017 seconds from Palmowski. Luzio battled his way past Harrison on the final lap to secure P3, whilst Burgoyne held off Brandon McCaughan for P5❗️ - Race 2 was delayed due to rain. 🔴 NEWS: Honda‘s current development for the 2026 engine is “going according to plan” ahead of the partnership with Aston Martin says HRC president Koji Watanabe. “So far everything is going according to plan. Of course, we cannot go into too much detail, but everything is in line with our own expectations,” explained Watanabe in an exclusive interview with Motorsport Network. He says the work is in line with their objectives. He adds that their focus is on the electrical side of the power unit which means they are working mainly on electric engine parts and on the battery. However, they also work the Internal Combustion Engine but Watanve says it’s a “single cylinder” so far and not a V6. This differs to Red Bull‘s approach with its own in-house powertrain project, made in partnership with Ford. 30 years ago today, F1 lost one of its most legendary figures as Ayrton Senna passed away after a crash in the 1994 San Marino GP❗️ - Earlier that weekend, there had been another tragedy as Roland Ratzenberger had an awful, fatal accident in Saturday qualifying. R.I.P Senna and Ratzenberger ❤️ - The danger had started even before that, with Rubens Barrichello having a terrifying 140mph airbone accident on Friday 💥 - Barrichello, who was knocked unconscious and had a blocked airway at one stage, was extremely lucky to survive the incident with just a broken nose and a minor wrist injury 🙏 - Ratzenberger and Senna weren't so lucky. For Ratzenberger, the 1994 San Marino GP was just his 3rd ever F1 appearance - he'd failed to qualify in Brazil, before taking a very decent P11 in the Pacific GP for the lowly Simtek squad 🎯 - Before making it to F1, Ratzenberger had competed all over the world in Formula Ford, F3, Touring Cars, F3000 and more, proving himself a capable racer in all types of machinery 🔥 - He never had the chance to show what he could really do in F1, but Ratzenberger will always be remembered as a warrior who gave his life in pursuit of his dreams 💪 - The second part of that sentence could also very much apply to Senna. The Brazilian, a 3x F1 World Champion, was heartbroken at Ratzenberger's passing but vowed to race the next day ➡️ - Arguably nobody in F1 history embodied the pure racing spirit more than Senna, part of the reason why he was so beloved in his lifetime and still is today 💯 - 30 years on from that terrible weekend at Imola, I just wanted to take a brief moment to remember Senna and Ratzenberger. Meanwhile, Louis Sharp passed Gerrard Xie for P4 🔄 - Kucharczyk pulled away. Sharp pressured Macintyre for P3 in the early stages, but ended up dropping behind Ugo Ugochukwu. 🚨 BREAKING: Aston Martin has lodged a petition for a right to review the penalty given to Fernando Alonso for causing a collision with Carlos Sainz in the Sprint in China. Aston and Ferrari have been summoned to a virtual meeting of the stewards on Friday before the action begins in Miami. All this because of the penalty given to Alonso after colliding with Sainz in China. The meeting will be held in two parts. First one is if Aston Martin have produced “significant and relevant” and new findings regarding this case. If they succeed the second part will be held to reconsider the stewards‘ decision. Alonso received three penalty points to his license. F2 racer Taylor Barnard will make his Formula E debut for McLaren this weekend in Monaco after regular driver Sam Bird was injured in practice 👀 - In FP1, Bird locked up at Turn 1 and ended up in the barrier, which resulted in the British racer breaking a bone in his left hand 💥 - "Due to a hand injury sustained during Free Practice 1, Sam Bird will not participate in the remaining sessions at the Monaco E-Prix," said a statement from McLaren. - "As a result, and pending approval from the FIA, Taylor Barnard will be stepping in for the remainder of the event." - Barnard is the reserve driver for McLaren's FE squad and is currently in his rookie F2 campaign, driving for PHM AIX Racing❗️ - Earlier this month, Barnard went quickest in a rookie FE practice session at Misano. ON THIS DAY: In 2009, Toyota blew a golden chance to take its maiden F1 race victory at the Bahrain GP after locking out the front row 👀 - With both Toyota's running light fuel loads in qualifying, one-lap specialist Jarno Trulli claimed pole position by 0.281 seconds ahead of team-mate Timo Glock❗️ - Glock swept into the lead at the start and the Toyota duo ran 1-2 for the first stint, until Glock pitted on Lap 12 and Trulli came in on Lap 14 🎯 - Toyota decided to use hard tyres on both cars in the second stint, opposite to the majority of the field, which turned out to be a disaster. Glock dropped all the way down to P7 after the first pitstop phase ⬇️ - Meanwhile, Trulli was jumped by Jenson Button in the pits. Button stormed clear, whilst Trulli fought to keep Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull behind him ⚠️ - In the second round of stops, Trulli dropped behind Vettel whilst Glock lost out to Kimi Raikkonen in a battle over P6. The tyre strategy had truly failed 🚫 - Button went on to win ahead of Vettel, with Trulli coming home in P3 and Glock being desperately disappointed with P7 after leading in the early stages 😬 - Toyota looked competitive at the start of 2009, with podiums in Australia and Malaysia. It genuinely seemed as though, in Bahrain, it was their chance to finally win a race 🏆 - But it wasn't to be. Toyota wouldn't come as close to winning a race ever again. The financial crisis at the time, combined with Toyota bosses' frustration at repeated failure, saw Toyota depart from F1 at the end of the season ❌️ - Would Toyota have stayed in F1 if they'd won at Bahrain? Red Bull junior Isack Hadjar set the fastest time of the 3-day FIA Formula 2 test at Circuit de Catalunya on the final day of running, earlier today 👀 - In the first day of testing, Dennis Hauger went fastest for MP Motorsport in the morning session but Gabriel Bortoleto's time of 1:25.143 in the afternoon was the fastest of the day 💯 - On Day 2, Pepe Marti lowered the pace in the morning to go fastest with a time of 1:23.681 whilst Rodin Motorsport's Ritomo Miyata went quickest in a slower afternoon session, with many drivers focusing on long run pace❗️ - Today, the fastest times again came in the morning as Campos Racing finished with a 1-2.
