According to the Children's Bureau, the main reason 216,838 children needed foster care in 2020 was due to neglect. Unfortunately, there are not enough foster parents to meet the demand. There is a widespread misperception that foster care usually entails giving someone a lifelong home. Yes, a lot of kids will need to be adopted by a caring family.
