❤️🐱Heartwarming adoption update: Monkey now Blossom! Do you remember darling Monkey? Monkey was found as a stray in Prince George, BC in very rough shape. She began her search as a solo cat for a loving forever home in early March of this year. On March 28th, her life was changed forever. Monkey, now lovingly renamed Blossom, arrived at her new forever home in Port Coquitlam. By the weekend, Blossom had fully adjusted and began enjoying her new life. Her new guardian even captured her sweet face in a pencil crayon sketch. Her new guardian says: "Each warm day is enjoyed, safe and protected inside her forever home's glass solarium (see below), where she can be found sleeping in some cozy spot soaking up the sun’s warmth surrounded by love, calm and care, or perched in her cardboard lookout gifted by the BC SPCA at her adoption, taking in the breathtaking panoramic views and ever-changing skies." Terrisa Bukovinac, president and founder of Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising, confirmed Wednesday via X that her ad — a presidential campaign including deeply disturbing footage of late-term aborted infants — aired during the NBC morning program, potentially reaching more than seven million people. Bukovinac, a self-avowed atheist, debuted the commercial in December of last year. In the ad, the progressive presidential candidate declared she “recovered the remains of these five babies” at a late-term abortion clinic in Washington, D.C. Her remarks come as graphic images of the fetal remains flash across the screen. “These are the faces of a genocide supported by Joe Biden and my own Democratic Party,” she says in the ad, as viewers see images of the president and Vice President Kamala Harris. She adds, “We can provide for the working class and resist this extremism,” urging voters to “never vote for a pro-choice Democrat again.” It should be noted Bukovanic told The Christian Post she never intended to win the Democratic presidential nomination. Rather, she launched her long-shot bid so she would have a platform to expose the evils of abortion to her fellow progressives. Koda went to his new home today! We have had Koda since early 2022 when he came to us very underweight and very mistrusting of humans! He spent time with Amber at @wildhorsediaries learning to trust and get over some food aggression and resource guarding before getting back under saddle and gaining confidence. He originally went to a home with a super supporter of the rescue but she decided she needed something with a little less motor. She ended up adopting miss Dixie who has been a perfect match! Read today's @guardian article about these Adoptee stories and how, Tyler Graf, who founded @connecting_roots_nonprofit helped to reunite them to their families after discovering that he himself had been stolen from his mother at birth. Their story is just one of tens of thousands relating to Chilean families torn apart by illegal adoption. Parents were typically told that their babies were lost or dead. In reality, they had been stolen and sold, facilitated by a network of social workers, faith officials and health and legal professionals across the country. Thousands of dollars were paid by American and European families for newborns they believed had been given up willingly. Mothers in Chile have recounted how hospital staff claimed their babies had died at birth and refused requests to see their bodies. Others were denied access to their babies, who were being looked after in children’s homes or public institutions, while some were coerced into giving them up for adoption. Not long after sunrise on a hot day in Santiago, four of these broken families were meeting in person for the first time. Brought together by Connecting Roots, an NGO dedicated to redressing the damage caused by decades of forced and illegal adoption, the group included daughters, sons, siblings and parents nervously waiting to set eyes on each other. They would then travel to their Chilean home towns to get to know relatives and share stories and photographs from the lives they had led apart. This dark chapter in Chilean history affected an estimated 20,000 children, who went on to grow up in families across the US and Europe. The practice reached its peak during Augusto Pinochet’s military dictatorship between 1973 and 1990, when the regime actively encouraged adoption as part of a strategy to eliminate poverty. Poor, young and Indigenous communities were targeted, and a climate of fear made it impossible for families to question or dispute the loss of their child. . . Lulu 🎀 📍Fountain Inn, SC 🤍@7 years old 🤍Female-Spayed Lulu was part of a herd but then got into a piggy fight and her ear was torn pretty badly. Since then she does her own thing. 🥹 She is described as a lap piggy and can be picked up and hugged. Owner brings her inside at night and she sleeps in a crate and then heads outside in the morning to start her day. This sweet girl is one of many being rehomed by current owner. I wish I could explain fully my personal view on foster care, on the business of adoption and the complicatedly conflicted need of reunification. My words will sound cool as they send puffs of smoke into the air on a crisp morning. Look you can see my breath. But can you feel the warmth colliding within the moisture? Can you ever really truly see me? . . . I have welcomed 34 children into my home. I fed them. I bathed them. I tucked them into bed at night with stories of mischievous cats wearing hats and moons whispering goodnight. One by one I said my goodbyes; some needing to return a few times. And two, oh my two, seeming to be here forever more. My daughter nestling her bright light right under my heart while my son never seemed so certain. Until just a few weeks ago he too said goodbye. I clung to my chest desperately frantic that the bright light within it might also flicker out. Understanding that as painful as this is. Ultimately it is needed. . . . I have many thoughts and opinions I have kept in the Pandora box of my reality. Musings on foster care. Stories of reunification. My strong aversion to make any money off of adoption stories. But maybe this world. Just struggling to find a peaceful life. Maybe it is not my time to share yet. Because as my breathe fills the crisp winter air. We want you to meet someone very special! Olivia 💕 Olivia came to us from Long Plain reserve in Manitoba where she was a stray. When she was rescued, she was already heavily pregnant. Olivia was undoubtedly struggling to find food and shelter while she was a stray. We are so grateful to say that she made her way to BC just in time to give birth to her four perfect pups! For her to be able to give birth to her pups in the safety and comfort of a warm home is truly wonderful.
