🇮🇹 The Dino 206 GT, 246 GT and 246 GTS are V6 mid-engined sports cars produced by Ferrari and sold under the Dino marque between 1967 and 1974. The production Dino 206 GT was designed by Aldo Brovarone and Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina and built by Scaglietti. It had the soft edges and curving lines typical of earlier Italian cars, unlike its angular successor, the 308 GT4. The 206 GT used a transverse-mounted 2.0 litre all-aluminium, 65-degree V6 engine with 180 PS (178 bhp; 132 kW) and a top speed of 146 mph (235 km/h). The 206 GT frame featured a light-weight, aluminium body, full independent suspension, and all round disc brakes. 152 Dino 206 GT were built in total between 1967 and 1969, in left hand drive only. The same 2.0 L (1,986.60 cc) engine was used in the Fiat Dino Coupe and Spider, produced during the same period. Fiat quoted 160 hp (119 kW) for the Fiat Dino and Coupé, and in 1967 Ferrari - presenting the first prototype of the Dino 206 GT - claimed 180 hp (134 kW). This, however, was not the case. Both engines were made by Fiat workers in Turin on the same production line, without any discrimination as to their destination, and all were identical. Calls for more power were answered with the Dino 246 with a 2.4 L (2,419.20 cc) 65-degree V6 engine which produced 195 PS (192 bhp; 143 kW), it was available as a fixed-top GT coupé or, after 1971, a targa-style Spyder GTS. The body was now mostly made of steel to save cost. 1968 FERRARI DINO 206 GT!! RESTORED! SELLING AT BROAD ARROW WITH NO RESERVE AT AMELIA ISLAND! The Dino 206 GT was designed by Pininfarina and built by Scaglietti. Introduced in 1967 a total of 152 were built by Ferrari. It used a 2.0 Liter all aluminum V6 engine fed by triple Weber carbs producing 180 HP. It was mated to a 5-speed transmission. The body was made of aluminum (unlike the successor steel bodied 246 GT’s) and weighed less than 2,000 pounds. This combination allowed for 0-60 times in the 8 second range and a top speed of 146 MPH. It was also the first Ferrari with direct rack and pinion steering, and it was the first with an electronic ignition. It featured a fully independent suspension and disc brakes. The Dino has been lauded as one of the most beautiful Ferraris made with its soft curves and edges. The Dino 206 GT seen here was the recipient of a complete restoration and has been used sparingly since. It was also Ferrari Classiche certified in 2020, which shows it retains its original engine and transmission. During the restoration, the Dino was repainted in its original color of Rosso Chairo. The interior was redone in the correct Nero leather with grey fabric inserts. Broad Arrow is offering this exceptional Dino at their Amelia Auction. The auction company has estimated this Dino between $600,000 and $750,000. With the steel bodied 246 GTs now trading at $500,000 to $650,000, we think this car will carry the bidding to $700,000 in Amelia. The glorious Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta Speciale rolls onto the show field at Pebble Beach. Pininfarina produced 2 cars in 1966 with three seats side-by-side, hence its nickname “Tre-posti”. Aldo Brovarone took lead in the design, and the similarities to the Dino 206GT are striking. A race engine and chassis from the 365 P2 was used. This is the first of the two cars made, s/n 8971. After it was shown at a few motor shows, US Ferrari importer Luigi Chinetti bought the car in 1967. It was offered by the Chinetti family at auction in 2014 and remained unsold at a high bid of $23.5 million. It changed hands to a new enthusiastic owner that keeps preserving the cars’ originality and shows it often. The second car, s/n 8815 was commissioned for Gianni Agnelli in silver and with a rather ungainly rear spoiler. That car was recently restored while the first car remains highly original.
