I recently delivered a 1-hour talk at Psicurt Film Festival with the name "The documentary movie as a social weapon". At the beginning of the year I had the chance to document the Living Solidarity Days, an event that wanted to promote solidarity in the community. The start of the war in the Ukraine one day before changed a lot of things at many levels but the desire of people to help and support each other remained intact. I learned a lot of things by watching through my camera. I saw fear for what was (and still is) ahead and ache for what was left behind. But most importantly I saw a lot of determination not to let any of those things bring us down. 🎥 NOW ONLINE 🎞 Our brand new documentary about the art project MONUMENTAL SHADOWS - Rethinking Colonial Heritage by @variousandgould in collaboration with @savvycontemporary - LINK IN BIO! @efalive documented the public interventions and urban performances in the context of MONUMENTAL SHADOWS over a period of weeks in summer 2021. It is about the artistic examination of Germany's colonial heritage and current culture of remembrance - through urban intervention and performance around the Bismarck Monument in Berlin. We publish the film consciously on today's day. It is again the anniversary – unfortunately unnoticed by many people – of a serious event to which the artists in the project and film refer. On November 15, 1884, the so-called “Congo Conference” began in Berlin at the invitation of Otto von Bismarck and lasted until February 26, 1885. At this conference, the participating, mainly European states legitimized and regulated the division and exploitation of the African continent among themselves – to the exclusion of any African representatives.
