Finally was able to harvest my first big game since I started hunting 7/8 years ago. And to make it even better, it was harvested with my PSE Carbon Air 34. I totally have to thank @tallneanderthal for his assistance in harvesting this bear. His guidance in stalking the bear and when to shoot was pivotal. Plus his help before the hunt at @boormanarchery in getting my new arrow setup, and meeting me at @ridgedalegunclub to help me dial in my broadheads. I cannot articulate how much I have appreciated the help. Also, cannot forget about @tythebcguy and his help in hacking us a trail out of the bush and bandaging up my finger when I knicked it with the knife. Archer’s first bear hunt! 🐻 This guy was taken down approx 150 yards from our cabin. He had walked around our cabin site checking things out twice that we know of. We were driving in and saw him on the road and did some predator control. The death of any animal really bothers me but I am able to see the necessity when it comes to providing food for our family or the protection of our family and our animals. I just realised I didn't post a final bear hunt photo from my son's first hunt the other weekend. Success!! 6:30am kill, and 2 hours of hauling this bear out of the woods to our canoe. A total of 35 hours hunting over the last few days. My son got his first big game. It was an absolutely epic hunt, through snow, rain, and sunshine... Canoeing over beaver dams and tracking through pristine Canadian Shield, waking up each day at 4:30am with only 5 hours sleep, to get his 5'10 (and a half) bear. I spent my Mother’s Day 2020 sitting quietly, camo’d out, in the bush; in a tree stand with two of my favorite girls for my first big game hunt! We’ve been baiting this bear for a week, watching her and learning her; & my first day in the stand was a success!👊🏻 I am so beyond blessed to have GREAT friends to show me the ropes of hunting; teaching me new things! Thanks to @lilnbig_boots; my first bear hunt was a success! And a huge thanks to @em.fortier for sitting in the stand with me & keeping me company! I would’ve been 1000x more shakey and nervous without you there! I’ve never in my life felt like that. The adrenaline. My heart POUNDING out of my chest as I watched that bear walk in. I legit thought the girls could hear my heart beating.. lol Trying to find my breath, to breathe normally & calm myself to get lined up for a shot, but trying not to make any sudden movements at the same time. Trying to mentally prepare myself, find the right moment. It was crazy. It was exhilarating. It was intense & it was beautiful! And I vibrated the whole damn tree stand after the rifle shot and realized I hit her! One shot, Right where I aimed. What a rush. I am so thankful to this animal & the healthy meat she will be providing for our families! I am so proud that this momma gets to bring home this fresh meat to feed my family.
