This was truly such a beautiful thing to do for a very good friend from elementary school. George came to me with a missing eye and nose from an unfortunate accident with her pet dog. He came in the mail from NYC and I found a wonderful seam I could open and magically fix. New eyeball and nose secured with new backings. Clear polyester thread to sew him back together is my secret weapon. Something a little different than art and fursuits. A while ago some large stuffed animals got donated to a local thrift store, when I went in the few left were stained or damaged in some way. So I got them because we could probably get them cleaned up and fixed and I never got any of these as a kid and am adult with own money : ) So this zebra here had some fur missing on the shoulder, I didn’t haven the right kind to fix it but I could make the guy unique. I cleaned up the area, removing any fur bits that were loose and then traced the shape onto some packing tape. I cut the shape out of some minky and sewed it over the bare spot. Super simple and I think he looks a lot better! Also I trimmed the white tuft from his face after taking the pictures. It was just the tail from the thread used to sew him originally that wasn’t trimmed close enough. Grateful for basic skills. My mom taught me at a young age how to sew a button back on my clothes. My grandma was a master on the sewing machine.
