One pattern, so many possibilities! I love this project in all its forms but I’m really digging the pink frame version 🤩. How I made it: I got the frame from Marshall’s. I cut a piece of white poster board and trimmed it to the right size and shape using the insert. Then I painted the poster board a soft pink and used double sided tape to attach the embroidery paper panel. I didn’t include the glass. About 2 years ago I offered handmade personalized ornaments. I haven’t offered them since because I haven’t had the time to commit to custom orders in a large volume and it wasn’t easy sourcing the right size wood slices. If a craft store had them in stock they were usually the wrong size. Last year I made 3 ornaments by special request in custom color ways. I’m thrilled how each one turned out. I started selling kits around this time last year. In a little over 12 months I have released 5 kits, including the new butterfly kit, and one of the most difficult things for me has been putting words to what I do. I’ve been doing wood and paper embroidery for almost 10 years 🙀 and until I started making kits everything was trial and error and a lot playing and making it up until I got the results I was looking for. Im slowly finding the right words to explain what and how wood embroidery works from my perspective. I have the kits to thank for that. Writing instructions for them has helped me so much that I’m building a bit of a catalog. The new kit will come with the first edition of what I’m calling Stitches for Wood Embroidery. This catalog will grow to include more stitching techniques and every kit will include one. So the new kits will include the catalog of stitched plus a single sheet that I’m calling “at-a-glance”, with all the colors and stitched needed. So if you’re already familiar with wood embroidery you can just check out the “at-a-glance” and get started. But if you need more instructions you can check out the catalog for stitching instructions.
