Odkąd pierwszy raz zobaczyłam filiżanki zaprojektowane przez Piero Fornasetti, zakochałam się w tej twarzy i tym designie 😍 Chyba nawet, jak sam autor, mam obsesję na Jej punkcie, tyle że Fornasetti malował, a ja kolekcjonuję 😉 Kiedy poznałam historię, jaka stoi za tą fascynacją artysty, to jeszcze bardziej się zakręciłam 🥰 Ta hipnotyzująca twarz to podobizna Liny Cavalierii, sopranistki operowej, którą na początku XX wieku okrzyknięto najpiękniejszą kobietą świata. Fornasetti nigdy jednak nie spotkał jej osobiście, znalazł jej podobiznę w XIX-wiecznym czasopiśmie....wykorzystał 350 wariantów jej wizerunku (różnych min i grymasów) do ponad 500 projektów, w tym ceramiki, tapet, mebli i innych dodatków. Piero Fornasetti and Gio Pinto designed interior of the Zodiac Suite, a First Class cabin of the Andrea Doria. It’s walls, ceilings and decorations covered with Zodiac signs taken from 17th-Century astrological maps. The Andrea Doria, launched in 1953, was a symbol of postwar rebirth of the Italian passenger ship industry. In July of 1956 the ship sank after colliding with the Stockholm near the coast of Nantucket while en route to New York City. Remembered as one of the most infamous disasters in maritime history, the accident lost the lives of 47 passengers.
Piero Fornasetti created a series called "Tema e Variazioni" of more than 500 more or less surrealist faces of the same woman on plates. The face of the woman was based on the opera singer Lina Cavalieri. Fornasetti could not stop putting her into whimsical poses. I love Fornasetti's work, the hotel I usually stay in, when I am in Paris, has Lina's famous face all over its staircase. This time I did not meet her in Paris, but in the @mudaclausanne in their surrealism exhibition.
