Not for sale! This is an Elderly-Instruments-Sold 2017 Farida OT-22 guitar which is basically an import knockoff of a Gibson LG-2. It plays and sounds quite close to the real thing and, perhaps, has a little better bass response than most of the ‘50s ones I’ve handled. 1952 Gibson LG1 modified into LG2. This came in with a piece of plywood nailed to the back with a trim nail gun. Yikes! Can we save it, sure! A long list for this one… Center seam crack, new bridge, new saddle, new nut, new mahogany back, removed ladder bracing and replaced with x bracing, new bridge plate, new pickguard, new frets, neck set, and I have 60’s LG1 tuners that I will replace when these start to fail (currently original). Basically I kept the neck, sides and soundboard. It sounds amazing and is one of my favorite guitars that has come through the shop. Imagine a 50’s J-45 with just a slight less bottom end replaced with a touch of mid-range. Not for sale! Here’s another 1944/1945 Gibson LG-2 guitar — this time all-original save tuners, nut, and bridge. It had some brutal repairwork done to the top under the bridge but we’ve made the best of it and it, of course, still sounds like a champ post-repairs. Not for sale! Per the factory order number, this appears to be a 1945 Gibson LG-2 — with a mahogany top and truss rod. It’s still got the giant neck, though! There was apparently a bunch of work done in the past — a replacement, Martin-style bridge, a neck reset (with not enough angle added — I re-reset it which was a minor chore), tuners swap, and, unfortunately — the whole thing has been either refinished or oversprayed. We can’t tell exactly which. It’s probably overspray but the color on the body is mildly suspicious. It does have check throughout the finish, however. Still — what a nice guitar! It’s got tons of sustain and lingering, sweet harmonic content.
