*For training purposes only* A vehicle was observed bearing a Florida tag on the rear and a Texas tag on the front was observed in a busy downtown corridor. One would think that was probable cause to conduct a traffic stop. Surprisingly, the vehicle yielded for the traffic stop; it was occupied four (4) times. Both backseat passengers were convicted felons. We’ll now refer to them as Felon #1 and Felon #2 PC was developed to search the vehicle. Felon #1 had a pistol in his waistband which was ultimately found during his removal from the vehicle. Felon #2 had a pistol at his feet to which he claimed was the drivers gun (driver possessed a concealed weapons license). It should be noted that Felon #2 was seated directly behind the driver’s seat. The pistol that was seated at the feet of Felon #2 and was positioned as if it had been placed there by Felon #2…let me explain. The handle of the pistol was closest to Felon #2 with the barrel pointed towards the drivers feet. The pistol was also covered up slightly by a shirt. Logically, would the driver have placed the firearm under his seat in that manner? I THINK NOT. Subsequently, both felons went to jail that night on weapons charges and narcotics charges. Felon #1 attempted file a motion to suppress stating that the mix-up in license plates was no fault of his and that the rental company who will not be named, is at fault. Fighting tooth and nail, it was ruled that both license plates were registered to the subject vehicle and that there is no traffic statute/infraction regarding two separate tags. But remember, this is a felon in possession!!! In conjunction with Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), the case was adopted. Felon #1 was indicted and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest. When the warrant was executed on Felon #1, he was in possession of #Glock . Felon has now been convicted, deemed a habitual felony offender, serving 5 years state time, and is pending trial regarding the firearm found in his waistband on the traffic stop.

Remington Model 1100 in 12 Gauge with a 28” barrel and a fixed modified choke Designed by Wayne Leek and Robert Kelley, the Remington Model 1100 was introduced in 1963 as a successor to the Model 58 and Model 878 gas operated shotguns. The Model 58 had been supplemented the recoil operated Model 11-48, which retained the long recoil action of John Browning’s original design, present in the Model 11 and the Browning Auto-5. Upon its introduction in 1963, the Model 1100 replaced the Model 58 and Model 878, and later replaced the Model 11-48 as well. The Model 1100 was an improvement over previous semi-automatic shotguns. All models of the series are gas operated with a mechanism that noticeably reduces recoil. As of 1983, it was the best selling autoloading shotgun in U.S. history, in dollar terms. The Model 1100 bleeds off gases to operate the action through ports in the barrel near the fore end. The gasses then drive a steel action sleeve that fits around the magazine tube and connects to the bolt carrier to the rear, ejecting the spent shell. A fresh shell is released from the magazine, which trips the carrier release, and the action spring in the stock pushes the bolt forward, picking up the fresh shell and loading it into the chamber. With modifications to the trigger group to regulate feed and firing, the design is basically a gas powered Model 870. Like most autoloading shotguns, the Model 1100 is very versatile for all kinds of hunting depending on the cartridges used and the fast follow up shots make it great for pigeon shooting or practical shotgun matches. Uberti Replica of a Smith and Wesson Model 3 Schofield in .45 Colt with a Jesse James pattern holster by El Paso Saddlery A six shot, single action revolver which became popular amongst cavalry troops and civilians on the Western Frontier during the 1870’s. The U.S. Army adopted the .44 S&W American caliber Smith & Wesson Model 3 revolver in 1870, making the Model 3 revolver the first standard-issue cartridge-firing revolver in US service. Most military pistols until that point were black powder cap and ball revolvers, which were (by comparison) slow, complicated, and susceptible to the effects of wet weather. In 1875, the US Ordnance Board granted Smith & Wesson a contract to outfit the military with Model 3 revolvers incorporating the design improvements of Major George W. Schofield (known as the “Schofield revolver”), providing that they could make the revolvers fire the .45 Colt (AKA “.45 Long Colt”) ammunition already in use by the US military. Smith & Wesson instead developed their own, slightly shorter .45 caliber round, the .45 Schofield, otherwise known as the .45 S&W. This shorter cartridge proved an issue when it came to resupplying troops with the .45S&W working in the .45 Colt 1873 but not vice versa. However the modern replicas are offered in .45 Colt to make it easier to find ammunition as well as pair with a lever action repeater. Many of the Schofield revolvers saw service in the Indian Wars, and there are reports of them in use as late as the Spanish–American War and Philippine–American War. Like the other Smith & Wesson Model 3s, they were also reportedly popular with lawmen and outlaws in the American West, and were reportedly used by Jesse James, Bob Ford (who used one to kill James), John Wesley Hardin, Pat Garrett, Theodore Roosevelt, Virgil Earp, Billy the Kid, and many others.
