Finally, it is done! While the construction was simple, the decals were not, as I expected, stickers... Turns out they were water slide decals. Which was a real pain to get the hang of. There was a lot of chipping dried decals because of the clear overhanging parts and over sliding and really tiny parts. In the end, I realized you have to trim them with a knife BEFORE putting them on the ship. Now to figure out how to clear coat it so I don't accidentally break or tear decals....
